Solar wire picture

Canoe

I see that you got your answer to the blue wire question. It is part of the Solar prewire package. Here is a picture of my unit that shows the blue cat5 wire clearly marked "solar".

Lightbulb Duhhh!!!!!!!!!!

Going over this thread for the umpteenth time, trying to figure why some of the replies seemed strange to me, I just figured out that there was a blue jacketed multi-conductor cable. Somehow I got it stuck in my mind, that there was a blue wire and a separate bundle of colored wires.
I may not read accurately, but I retain the inaccuracies well.
Sorry for the responses that didn't make sense.

just install the pump here!

based on my watered down brain recall, your link is in error.

both extreme series pumps use the 254 series strainer...

quoting the BOXed instructions...

"•Use an Extreme Series High-Flow water strainer [Model # 254-266]"

so the extreme series 4.0 that i installed does have the 254-xx strainer.

the BOWL is larger and perhaps more robust, a little more surface on the screen inside.

don't use the 255-xx with the extreme series pump.

negatory bob.

of course my wet cells may be flooded with bad juju too...
_____________

here's the schematic for the install on the 4.0...

and the strainer is noted near the end of page 1, which is the BOTTOM of the pdf (page 2 is at the top)

Thanks 2Air & Bob

I have bought the Extreme 4.0 pump & have to do the install yet (just like CanoeStream) so appreciate this part list. I hate starting a project only to find I have to order parts yet...

This is very useful info.

Thanks

-evan

I see that the link here: http://legacy.shurflo.com/pages/RV/r...aterSysAcc.htm
offers the suggestion that the 255 series strainer should or could be used with the Extreme 4.0. I guess if it fits, the downside is that if the water is more turbid or has more debris, the 255 series filter will clog or offer more resistance to flow sooner than the bigger surface area 254 series strainer.

hi evan

yeah i saw that too.

don't ya just love conflicting guidance?

i purchased the 4.0 in a brick/mortar rv shop locally.

the old guy working there said EVERYONE he'd sold this extreme series pump to that TRIED using the smaller strainer (255)

had issues or problems with poor flow or pump failure or NOISE.

i don't think he was blowing smoke up my backside,

because i already had a NEW 255 (left over, purchased elsewhere) and he willing exchanged it for the 254 strainer.

the fittings DO appear to be exactly the same so it should fit.

my concern would be if the 255 in any way IMPEDS water flowing INTO the pump, that might unduly stress the internals.

you should CALL or email shurflo tech support about this.

and if you do, post back the official 411.

cheers
