Pressure regulator

Newby question. My new 2015 FC 28 has built in pressure regulator. Is there a need to also use a pressure regulator at water source?

Not really necessary to protect the trailer for the reason you state. But some people will use one on the campground spigot (especially during hot weather) to protect their hose.

I have a 1978 31' AS rear bath. The internal city water pressure regulator is not working properly. Initially I have 45 pounds at bathroom faucet then it drops so low that my tankless water heater will not stay on due to lack of sufficient flow. I attempted to adjust the pressure regulator screwing the top stem up and down, but nothing changes. I am thinking about either replacing the regulator (any sources) or just taking it out and using a 40-50 pound inline regulator at the hose bib. Any suggestions?

I'd clean the hose screens first, regulators seldom go bad.

How do you know you have 45 psi at the faucet?

I replumbed my 75 Overlander with PEX recently to include all faucets, valves and the pressure regulator (which I found at Camping World, has a gauge and is adjustable, and made for a hose). I use a cheapo regulator to protect the hose.
