Pocket Hose warning

If anyone is tempted to buy a "pocket hose", which is an expandable water hose now on the market (telly market sold, and Home Depot has them) understand that the instructions inside state in capital letters "DO NOT DRINK FROM THIS HOSE" so it is not something you want to use for filling your water tank in your Airstream.

It is a cute idea though for a longer hose to wash your rig when on the road yet takes up little storage space.

Gotta hate personalized advertising; no sooner did I open this thread, but a Pocket Hose advertisement popped up!

Appreciate the warning, though.

Hmmmmm.

We bought one of these for the Interstate, and have used it without any problems. (i.e. we have not gotten sick)

I believe the same warning appears on the standard garden hose that we used for years, also without problems.

I don't know that the materials are toxic, suspect more that it is the dangers of drinking water that has been sitting in the hose.

We like how small these pocket hoses become when drained of water.

For those who are looking for a hose which takes up very little space when not in use, the 10' "utility" hoses sold by Camping World ( Utility Hose - 10' - American Specialty HT-10 - Hoses, Reels & Fittings - Camping World ) are very nice. We have used them for many years and they are drinking water safe (and add no taste). Being 10' long, they can be drained quickly and easily by holding them up by the middle. We have several with quick connect fittings (standard from the hardware store) and link up as many of the short hoses as necessary. If one springs a leak (usually only from external damage), only it need be replaced.

I have the 50' vrsion of that on a rollup handle, works great. The 10' idea is better.
