New pump choice and why.

I posted the other day asking about the correct water pump for my trailer. I ended up getting a SHURflo Revolution 4008-11-E65 (3 gpm, 55 psi, 7.5 amps).

Here's why I chose this one:

-Feedback received on this forum. Thanks.

-Both Airstream and SHURflo recommend this as a replacement for the old SHURflo 2088-403-144 (2.8 gpm, 45 psi, 4 amps).

-The local shops recommended this exact same 4008 pump.

So, to the other newbies out there, who, like me, might know just enough about this stuff to be dangerous to themselves and others, know that according to my research, the extra amp draw and higher PSI of the new version should not cause any problems at all. Installation was a breeze. Plus, the new pump is a little quieter.

I will be curious to know how this pump works out in the long run. We used an earlier version of this flow sensing pump on our sail boat for about 4 years until I got tired of pump failures. I switched to a more conventional but large pump and the problems stopped (the replacement pump is now entering its sixth season so it has been very reliable). I see the pump has been redesigned in almost every way so I bet that they have figured it out now.


You will have to report back here in a year or so and let us know how you make out....

I must be living right. The original Sureflow pump from my 2004 Safari is still going and we boondock 3 weeks a year. I am carrying a replacement from my prior rv. The fact that I have a spare part is probably the reason the original one has not failed.
