Mystery Drain Line

When updating the plumbing and drains in our 1975 Argosy TT i found 4 flexible drain pipes coming out the bottom of the trailer. #1 is the potable water tank drain in the front. #2 is the 60psi relief valve right after the city hookup point. #3 is a total hot/cold drain line hooked up to empty the systems. the #4 is a mystery to me, it is on the back side between the hot water heater and the tire well. i have removed the hot water tank and the flooring in that area for repairs. the drain goes directly up into the wall and there is no system i can think of it can possible run to. the TT does not have a a/c installed because i was thinking a drain line for that. maybe its set up for an a/c and the line is up there waiting, maybe another roof system or drain? any ideas on what other item in the TT would require a drain line out the bottom? Thanks

It sounds like the normal location for the AC condensate drain, and I think Argosy trailers were all at least prepped for AC with the condensate lines and electrical installed at the factory.

Does your unit have a potable water holding tank? If so this may be the line coming from the air-gap fitting that is used to protect this water from contamination.

Sounds right to me, thanks for the info. will be good to know when i go to install an a/c unit. i didnt even know if TT had a/c condenser drain lines, guess thats better then just running down the side of the trailer all day, lol

Experts such as Andy at Inland RV can tell you where the electrical lines for the should be located. It'll be at a particular rib between the inner and outer skins. I'm guessing the top end of the drain line will be close to the same location.

Mystery Drain Line

I agree with DKB_SATX, what you are seeing is most likely the condesate drain that was automatically installed at the factory for a rooftop airconditioner. The electrical cable is also provided and can be found in the ceiling near the spot where the factor specifies the installation hole for the A/C to be cut. You should also find an empty breaker bay or an unused 20 AMP breaker in your coaches breaker box that is intended for the A/C circuit.

The 6.0 Minuets were an exception to this rule. I am uncertain whether the 6.7 and 7.4 Metre coaches were exceptions or not. The A/C preparation package was optional, but it appears that most dealers ordered it on all of their unsold coaches. The presence of the package can be identified on a 6.0 Minuet can be identified by looking at the ceiling very close to the kitchen sink area - - there you will see a blank outlet cover where the A/C electrical supply is terminated

Greetings DearArgosy!

I agree with DKB_SATX, what you are seeing, is most likely the hose that the factory installed for the A/C condesate drain. The standard Argosy coaches were automatically prepped for air conditioning installation. The 120 volt A/C electrical supply cable is located in the ceiling near where the factory specifies that the hole be cut for installation of the rooftop air conditioning.

There was one exception to this rule, and that was the 6.0 Metre Minuet. (I am not certain whether this would apply to the 6.7 or 7.4 Metre Minuets.) The air conditioning preparation package was optional on the 6.0 Metre Minuet, but it appears that all of the 6.0 Metre coaches ordered for dealer inventory were equipped with the air conditioning prep package. The presence of the package can be identified by the presence of a blank outlet cover in the ceiling of the coach near the galley sink - - this marks the location of the power supply cable for the A/C, and is used in marking the location to cut the opening for the air conditioning.

Enjoy your Argosy!

Kevin

Thank you, i will definitely need the help with the a/c when it comes time. the ceiling has a receptacle on the ceiling about 16" behind the center roof vent. I'm guessing that area, between those ribs will be the spot to cut in the a/c opening and locate the end of that drain line as well. will be sure to talk to someone when the time comes. its great to have this forum and community to talk too.
