Keeping wasps out of your heater?
Not sure if this is the best place to post this, but I was wondering if anyone has installed a screen over their furnace vent to keep the wasps out.
I have one building a nest in there right now... i have half a mind to kick it on

I put a flea collar in my fridge, water heater, and fridge areas. Supposed to keep spiders out. I wonder if it works for wasps...

I read somewhere dryer sheets helps keep the critters out. I have them spread out all around the trailer.

I've also heard that flea collars tightly wrapped around your water hose and shore power cable will keep ants from using them for access to your Airstream. Don't know if that's true; there are plenty of other points of contact with the ground that provide alternate access.

How does that screen attach?

Wasp scare the crap out of me. I have a hospital worthy reaction if stung. Carry an EpiPen pretty much everywhere I go especialy this time of year. Keep cans of wasp spray in the trailer, backyard, front yard and garage.

I was told by ' Trailer Dave' that add-on screens are illegal in Canada. (An ìll eagle' is a large sick bird.
Apparently it disrupts the airflow to the burner inside.
Given the size and the open mesh; I cannot see how.
I use. It; works for me.

Yes it does, and I also put one in the propane cover and no wasp nests. When I store it for any time I also hang a few flea collars in various places and no bugs or ants. they last about 6 months. Dryer sheets do work but don't last in the outside very long.

The screen is a necessity in the south. Air flow to the burner will really get messed up when it is blocked or caked with mud. Take it off when you are using the furnace if it offends someone. I had to replace my furnace and one of the issues was all the mess that wasps made. I am an Aerospace engineer and these screens are not going to cause problems with air flow. The wasps will DEFINITELY cause problems.

Wasp problem
Flea colors work for wasps and Irish spring soap for mice.

As long as the total opening size in the mesh is larger than the total opening size in the furnace, it will provide no disruption to intake or exhaust airflow whatsoever.

I used the screens on my old Airstream and will be installing them on the new one. I also use the wasp traps that are yellow with the cotton ball and attractant. I hang three or four of them out in the summer and they work well. I also have stuffed paper towels in the stove vent when I am not out using the trailer.

'Somebody' in an earlier post, said it works. He cuts one in half when replacing the dog's collar, and places it on the floor of the compartment.

"Somebody" told me to use Vaseline on the powerlines and such to keep the ants out. Seems to work so far.

Screens can inhibit air flow if flat, but those designed and sold for the purpose have a rounded shape so the available air flow space is as good as no screen.
I use one on the furnace, inexpensive and lasts forever. We live near the water, lots of flying bugs and spiders who eat them.
