It's getting cold! Newbes take caution!
We are experiencing some quick weather changes regarding temperatures and you may get caught with freezing temps in the next few days. If you are a new owner and you haven't winterized yet (I haven't), consider turning on the furnace to its lowest setting and leaving your cabinet doors that expose water lines open. If you have water in the water heater, you could fire it up.
I just got back from a weeklong trip on Sunday and last night's temps got down to almost freezing. It was 35 when I went to bed so I went out to the drive and set the furnace for 40 degrees and turned on the electric side of my water heater. Tonight we hit freezing and tomorrow it hits 30 for the low. Won't get to winterize till Friday or Saturday, so I'm playing it safe.

That is one of the great things about living in the Deep South. No worries about having to deal with winterizing. We camp, year around. You do not see people from the south going north for the winter.

Good advice. I know it's creeping up on us in the NW. I was just thinking about it this week.

Will be winterizing this coming Friday. I've been watching the temperatures and it's getting too close for comfort.

We have a 1976 Argosy 28. What types of things should we do for winterizing?
The tanks are empty.
I was thinking that we could put in a little space heater to run off electric once we hit the 20's.

Steve, you sure do. I had a great time in Maine and New Hampshire this summer.

I got all excited about the Aqua Pro so went to Amazon to see what it was only to find out my trailer already has one installed. I just thought it was standard equipment, we live, we learn. Was handy though.

Going into the 20's here in Central Oregon in a couple of days. I'm winterizing today. Seems like a shame to have to do it for such a short winter here - this year anyway. Winter doesn't leave here for good until July 1 (we have a shorter growing season than Moscow), but we're leaving it the first of January for points south.

Driving back from the St Louis area to Chicago yesterday, raining all the way, watched the temps drop to 32 and then it started to snow! Turned back into rain as it it warmed a bit. We spent a night at the St. Louis RV park along with the trailers from the Ringling Brothers/B&B Circus.

I've done that almost every year, I think it helps keep it from getting musty inside too. I also like to have a Dry-Z-Air in there to soak up extra moisture. However, one year my electric heater failed, and leftover water in the pipes froze and broke a pipe, so be sure to blow out your pipes so there's no water left in the low spots. I usually put some RV antifreeze in the traps as well, just in case.
