In Need of a Part

The toilet in my '59 Trade Wind is missing the rubber cap to the vent on the riser. This particular toilet is from a '62 Safari and I think the factory used these toilets on a number of model trailers. Anyone have a spare one of these or know where I can get one?

Brad,

If it's just a cap, you can buy them anywhere, but I suspect your are looking for an AAV (air admittance valve). http://www.toolbase.org/techinv/tech...chnologyID=140

Usually these are used in sinks to prevent sucking out the traps. Not sure how it would work on a RV style toilet without a trap. ?? What you need is a different style of air expeller valve that lets sewer gas out as you flush.

On my '59 Tradewind, the vent continued up through the wall to an outside roof vent.

Hey Don ~

Just need the cap. The toilet is not hooked up directly to water. We use a spayer only so the cap is just for visual purposes. I've seen one up close on Shari's GT and it has the SaniWare logo.

That must be the pre-curser to the vacuum breakers that are found on every 'modern' RV now. You need one for every P-trap and toilet for the very reasons mentioned above. Keeps the stinkies in the tanks!!
