During our last camping trip the plumbing started leaking and it was very wet around the toilet area. I discovered the leak to be coming from the elbow fitting that goes into the hot water tank. It's located next to the water pump compartment by the toilet... I disconnected the hose already but I don't know how to remove the broken fitting. I'm all ears. Here are some pictures.
Turn it counter-clockwise. Vise-Grips used carefully might be a good candidate (I wouldn't recommend them for most plumbing tasks, but this fitting is already trash).
If the threads break off, you should be able to whittle the plastic away with a knife. Concentrate on one small area to create a groove that you can just see the threads from the fitting in the tank. Then start prying the rest off from the edges of the groove.
Using your advice I was going to cut it off. But while wiggling the fitting extension it simply broke off. It gave me enough clearance to turn the fitting. I had it out within 5 min. Thank you very much.
