Hot water Bypass (first time de-winterizing)

Hey, we bought an Airstream Sport 16 from you last year and we are getting it out of storage. And are doing all of the de-winterizing.

My problem is the hot water bypass. I can't figure out the correct config, Enclosed is a picture of my pipes in the closet. Can you tell me the:

Normal config of valve 1, 2 and 3

1) the valve attached to red and white /hot and cold pipes
2) the valve attached to nothing but hot pipes
3) the valve attached to nothing by cold pipes

the winter bypass config of valve 1,2 and 3

I just need to know which should be a) parallel/along the pipe or b) perpendicular/at a 90 degree angle to the pipe

Hi. Not sure who you are addressing this to, maybe you were trying to email your dealer?
There is no photo in your post.

Parallel is open. Perpendicular is closed. This is true of all ball valve designs I've ever seen.

From your description, #1 is the bypass valve. #2 is the outlet and #3 is the inlet.

To place the heater back in service, open #2 and #3, and close #1.

To bypass for storage, close #2 and #3, and open #1. Don't forget to drain your water heater tank after bypassing it to prevent the tank from rupturing over the Winter.
