hot and cold water

Well here is a weird one....out of the blue the hot and cold water valves switched. One day I turned on the faucet to cold and hot water came out and turned on hot and cold water came out. Called three dealer service departments and they all have never heard of this. If it was a bad water control valve then the water would be hot, cold or luke warm. It really doesn't matter because it all works fine, just backwards from how it was working.!!

hot and cold water

Solar heating of the cold water supply hose heated it up you got first flow thru cold faucet.

This happened to us after winterizing. We were getting more hot out of the cold and very little of anything from the hot side. I followed the various threads and narrowed things down to the mixing valve perhaps being clogged. So I pulled the mixing valve, but didn't find any screen clogs. What I did find was a small check valve in the water heater port that had become dislodged and was apparently blocking the correct flow from the heater. After getting the check valve back in the correct place everything started working again.

How it got that way, I don't know. I winterize with air, but take the heater out of the system with the bypass valve before winterizing. There are some pictures of what I found in the thread below.
