Grey tanks into a 65TW

Greetings,
Black tank is going in and wanting to put greys in underneath also. We have long narrow ducting in belly on streetside that comes from old squirrel cage heater. The size of that ducting is wide enough that it would keep the grey tanks from Vintage from fitting. Should we choose to change the ducting or order custom made tanks.

The ducting is there to help warm your tanks in freezing temperatures. I guess you need to decide how often you intend to camp in hard-freeze conditions and run the furnace to keep them warm. Even if you decide this is a probability, it may make sense to change out the ducting for something with a better fit, or take some other option such as an electric warming blanket that sits under the tanks.

I recently went through the grey tank sourcing exercise. Spent several months mulling it over, and finally decided to go with the VTS tanks. Custom tanks are cost prohibitive, and there are few options if you want to keep the tanks within the frame and belly pan. Another forum member, Aerowood, used three 10 gallon (I think) tanks in his 69, and that may be an option that allows you the space you want for the ducting.

If the ducting is like in a 68 TW it would be real hard to change. After a lot of thought, mainly because my old NT-22 furnace was toast, we decided that we could do with small electric heaters when we camp at full service sites and propane cat heaters when we are at the farm. Neither of use like to camp in cold weather so ditching the furnace was a good choice as it freed up a perfect spot in the cabinet to store our microwave. Two small electrics keep us warm down to 32 or so. If I was doing things again, I would put in a grey tank but at the time I did mine Steve did not have them at VTS. Good luck.

Just finished a grey tank install on 68 Safari, see my thread http://www.airforums.com/forums/f192...ne-100750.html

I used and Inca Plastics tank #H-192 for the grey water tank, I did have to remake the shiny part in the photo showing the duct as well as a little crushing of duct to achieve move about 1" to one side to allow tank and duct to occupy the same space.

Thanks for you input. And yes we have checked you out previously, so to speak, and were impressed with your work and photographs. Your photo's inspired us to make up our minds and add the gray tanks.
