Globetrotter 1963 - Kitchen Sink Drain Leak Under the Floor

Hi I recently discovered a drain leak in my Kitchen Sink under the floor. I stopped using it for now. I'd like to know if anyone knows how to get to the drain pipe for repair. Will I need to remove the floor or can I get to it from outside and under the trailer.

All the drain lines on my 68 GT run on top of the floor. Are you sure your tank is not leaking ?

Well, I am sure that the leak is under the floor. My trailer does not have a grey water tank so I can elimante that. The fresh water tank is not leaking. I can see that from inside the trailer. The only time I get any leaking is when water goes down the drain pipe.

Is it possible that something is leaking other than the drain pipe? (I will answer below)

Possible, but in anycase the leak is under the floor. So I am not sure the easiest way to get to it. Should I start under the trailer, pulling the bottom off, or from inside cutting out the floor?

I do not plan to start this until after the summer
since my available time while the kids are out of school is limited. I am just not going to use the sink!

PS. I wish my pipe was not run under the floor. That would be convenient.

Almost all of the drain lines and pressure lines in an Airstream run on top of the floor. There are some instances where they run pressure lines under the floor. They are few and far between. You mention that the only time it leaks is when you use the sink. Have you tested the drain with a bucket of water (not running a faucet)?

In many of the trailers there are drain valves that drain thru the belly pan. Usally there is a valve that allows you to open up the lines and drian out all of the water. These valves can be on top of the floor, or in the belly pan itself. They are usally capped with a red handle. The reason for my description is this. IF your trailer had the belly skin replaced and the drain line was not routed thru AND IF you have a leaky valve or it was not closed complety then you would get water out of the belly pan with no visible source of leakage.

Another way to see if this is the case is to turn on the pump and leave it on. Sit on the couch or bed with a book and listen to see if the pump has to keep burping or running in short bursts to keep the system pressurized.
