Smile Full timer city water hook up

Newbie here, of course

My beautiful Metatron. (1971 Overlander) has been gutted and saved from the scrap yard. My new tiny house will be connected full time to city water. Composting toilet allowed me to dodge sewer hookup on private land but my question is about city water via hose connected to back bumper inlet.

The water pump is under the kitchen sink and a true eyesore and space invader. If I am never going to use the freshwater tank will I need this water pump. PO had installed on demand water heater. I know many wish we millennial would restore but she was gutted, repaired and will be loved like the work of art she is...Many thanks in advance

yes you should be able to bypass the onboard tank and pump and plumb the city water into the supply side of the system to get the pressureized city water flowing.

That ability is built into my 345 coach.
Hopefully someone with a rig like yours will join in with specific details for you.

Welcome to the forums, as you surf around here lots of helpfull info will come to light.

Cheers Richard

Since you are aiming for a fixed location for your rig, keep an eye out for some of the clever structures that folks here have built to add to the comfort of their living aboard.
Having a roof over the trailer would make things much more comfortable in wet and especially hot weather.

Don't forget winter. There will be days when it is going to freeze in Ga. and the hose is the first to freeze leaving you without water til the thaw.

If you have the tank and pump you could coast through the time when you have to remove the hose.

When you remove the unneeded water pump, be sure to cap off the two pipe ends. Do NOT try to install a short pipe in place of the pump.

My '67 Overlander is pretty much still original. It's water tank and pump are behind the couch up against the front wall of the trailer. There is a main supply pipe that runs from the rear bumper inlet to the tank with a valve under the street side arm rest. To fill the tank while connected to city water I just open that valve. If I don't want to use the tank I just don't put any water in it. The pump discharge is open to the same pipe upstream from the supply valve so that if there is city water pressure the pump won't run. If there is no pressure and the pump switch is on with water in the tank, the pump pressurizes the main water pipe and can send water to any tap or appliance that opens. That means you would need to remove the pump and plug the connection to the main supply line or install a valve between the pump discharge and the supply line. In my trailer that line is copper and easily plugged.
