Extended Storage and Water System.

My TT has been in storage for the past 9 months and will probably not be used for another 9 months. I winterized the water system before storage and I am thinking of just leaving the antifreeze in the pipes till I use it. Do you see any problem with letting antifreeze sit in the pipes that long?

would that be 18 months total with antifreeze in the pipes ?

that is a LONG time.

the stuff does evaporate and the residue will be dissolving out of the pipes and into the water for a LONG time too.

the other options are...

-drain the lines, rinse and flush them with air. then leave them empty, but some folks think dry lines are prone to failure.

-drain the antifreeze and run water though the lines, until next winter, then antifreeze 'em again.

regardless of what u do there may be some drips and leaks after such a long time without use.

i'd ditch the antifreeze, flush em out really well with water, and then blow air through the lines...

what are u gonna do with the tanks and traps and drain lines?

anti- freeze in Texas? Is it to keep the pipes from over heating? Nine months from now will be winter again, or summer again if you live in Texas.

That is what I was worried about, the time peroid with that old stuff in there.
I'll just flush with water then re antinfreeze in the Fall as you suggest.
I always pour antifreeze in the traps and don't generally do anything with the tanks except to flush and clean them very well after each use and before storage. Thanks for the advice.

Ha, ha! I live in North Texas. When the pool ices over and the dog is walking on the ice you know your not that close to Mexico. But in the summer, I swear we are right on the border.

If I lived in Austin, I probably wouldn't think about it much either. From what I can tell Austin looks to be about the best area in Texas to live in and the location is about perfect to drive to anyplace in the Southwest US.
