Clogged Shower Drain on MH

1999 Land Yacht MH 30'. Shower drain is a step-on to close, step-again and it is suppose to spring open. According to the AS manual it is called a "swivel strainer". Problem is that it appears to be gunned-up with very slow draining. Any ideas as to how to clean it out, short of disconnecting the p-trap underneath?
Thanks,

Mike

Remove stopper, then try one of the plastic hair clog removers from a big box store. It looks like a long plastic strip with teeth on the edge. Slip in it as far as you can, then gently pull it out with the hair and other crud stuck to it. I'd use gloves as it can be messy.

The strainer should just unscrew. Try to unscrew it carefully by hand - more than likely hair and other gunk have collected around the pop-up mechanism which is causing it to malfunction.

Long time ago I worked in apartment maintenance and I don't know how many times I have had to do the same thing to repair the same complaint about that type of stopper. Good Luck!

BTW - if you do get it apart you can use WD40 or something like that to get the pop-up working smoothly again.
