Cleaning Pipes After a Rusty Situation

Currently staying in a place where the water is so rusty it overwhelmed my filter. Stained my toilet even. Promptly switched to bottled water.

Heading to another place tomorrow with full hook-ups and clean water. I want to clean all my pipes.

Is CLR ok to run through everything? Bleach?

Any advice on how to clean everything? Will purchase a new filter and water hose prior for sure.

Thank you in advance.

You can contact the CLR company and ask them, but I would be very careful about putting anything like that or even a strong bleach concentration through the pipes. You don't really care about the color of the inside of the pipes, just the water coming through them.

Personally, I would flush the lines several times with fresh water, maybe even blow them out with air. I would replace the filter for sure, just flush out the hose too. Rust is oxidized iron, and iron is a nutrient so small amounts won't hurt you, must safer than CLR or concentrated bleach solutions.
