Can it really be this easy?

I had a problem with my toilet leaking. The carpet just in front of the toilet would get wet after a few uses.

I searched this forum and found useful information about my Thetford toilet and repairing it.

I was all prepared to remove the toilet and replace the gaskets.

I went to remove the toilet last night and found that the nut at the front base of the toilet was loose. I tightened it down and poured a bucket of water in the toilet.

No leaks! I flushed repeatedly and still no leaks!

I am having a hard time believing that the fix could be this easy!

During the first longer than three day outing in our airstream, I came home to find the bathroom floor very wet. I wasn't sure if the hot water heater was leaking or if the toilet was the leaking. I removed the hot water heater and pressure tested the tank. Upon further investigation, I discovered the exact same thing that you had; that being loose bolts on the toilet. The rear bolt was not even hand tight. It appears that in order to tighten the rear bolt, one needs the arm size of a ten year old which is jointed in four places. A rachet end wrench made the job a bit easier.

As far as removing the hot water heater, I was consoled that during reinstallation, I upgraded the gas line, installed a bypass to assist when winterizing, and installed braided flex lines for the hot and cold lines going to and from the tank.

I now check the toilet bolts for tightness when I get the trailer ready in the spring.

Talk about luck! The water valve on my brand new toilet (can't remember the name at the moment....really good german beer) was cracked and leaked all over my brand new marmoleum. This of course did get fixed by the resto shop, and all is well with the universe again.

I checked this evening when I got home. The water that was in the bowl for 24 hours had pretty much drained into the black water tank. Nothing on the floor!!!!!!
