Atwood GC6-7E water heater

In my strive to get my AS Excella roadready - today seemed to be a good day to hook up city water and test the plumbing and water heater (on gas). Shouldn´t have done that. Had 110V running as well.
Well, that is - plumbing seems to work - no leaks and water in almost all faucets (had all 3 working on 12V)

Opened for gas, waited (at least 5 mins) and hit the ignite switch.
Nothing seemed to happen. Walked outside after a few minutes and saw white smoke out of the heaters vent. Didn´t see no pilot light and one wire were almost melted (assume smoke came from this. Long story short - no more 12V DC to the water pump thus no more water in faucets.
Big Question here: Why would I loose 12V or why would the pump stop working?
Any suggestions?
