1972 water filter, what to do?

any thoughts on how to find a replacement cartridge or replacing with new system? can't imagine drinking water from the old plastic tank, so is this really necessary anyways?

Get rid of it and use bottled water to drink. Even with a filter, you are safer that way. Filters are growth media as well, especially when they are not used for extended periods of time which is common for RV's.

Nick.

Should the 150 filter fail, you will find a bunch of black material in the stainless steel can. That black material is charcoal.

We are working on trying to find a replacement for that old style filter.

The last place that had them was Airstream, until a few months ago, as that filter is no loner available.

However, I wonder if it is available through the app you use to access the Forums from your phone..? Would you be so kind as to let us know?

that's what i'm thinking too ... if the seal for the canister is still good just remove cartridge and water will flow through freely.

Use an External filter...

I have one that connects to the water hose and has a short hose with a spring to connect up if I have campground water available. It gets replaced regularly. I use a dedicated, carefully handled fresh water hose certified for drinking water use...

If not, its water from the very well-sanitized fresh water tank and system in the TT. I flush the entire trailer system each de-winterize with a lot of bleach solution and water until I'm satisfied its absolutely clean.

But yeah, If I'm the least bit paranoid about the water coming in, there is always a fresh case of bottled water under the bed and we and the dogs drink ONLY that bottled water until I can clean the system again. We also brush our teeth with bottled water if necessary as well.

Can't be too careful.

I think the bolded info is why. Not all Forum features work through the 'app' you use. Too bad.

think i'm going to simply connect the in & out pipe and by-pass the water filter for now.. i took the old canister out but can't get a good seal now, water pours out when water pump is activated.
this website has an app i noticed, just go to itunes stores and search ..

If it wasn't leaking before and it is now, you could have improperly inserted the rubber ring, or dropped the ring into the dark abyss below the filter. The ring sits in a depression at the top of the cup containing the water.

Water Filter (1972 Airstream)

ADC Everpure Replacement Cartridge - EV9592-01 or EV9592-06 is supposed to be a replacement for filters used on 72 Airstreams. Anyone have any info/opinion on this?
