1964 Safari 22 Toilet Replacement

Looking to replace the toilet in my 64 Safari. Any suggestions as to what brand and model I might use.

Boy, you're going to open a can of worms. I don't know what the 64 Safari had for a toilet, but my 66 Trade Wind had the goofy, clunky, leaky thing. And the black tank under it was woefully inadequate. My toilet flange was rusted to the tank so it wouldn't budge. And the subfloor under the toilet was rotted out. So was the steel pan holding the black tank up. I was just a big highway bump from losing the toilet out the back of the trailer. Here are photos of toilet, black tank, and subfloor from my Trade Wind.

Both Thetford and Dometic make decent RV toilets. You choose plastic or heavier porcelain, and then choose the seat height and color. Spend $250 and you got a new one. It is a leap of faith installing a new toilet on a old black tank.

Maybe your trailer has been renovated in this area already.

Did you tackle the toilet replacement yet? I have been planning to replace in our 1968 Tradewind but after reading the reply from dbj216 I'm definitely nervous. Did you get any other advice?
