They are desirable as a proper year plate for early 60's trailers.

Hey Jude, ( I just HAD to address you that way, sorry )

The way I see it, It started when the vintage car crowd were restoring the cars of the '60s they wanted the look completely original. Plus California cars ( and Arizona ) were supposed to be in better condition because of the mild weather.

In my case, my Bambi II was made in Santa Fe Springs CA and first sold to a couple in Santa Ana CA , and has always lived in CA.

Just kinda' cool, in my opinion.

Vanity Plates

Our 1961 Bambi: BAMBI 61
1962 Safari: 62 SFARI

We just ordered a license plate for our 1974 Tradewind Land Yacht: 74 YACHT

Great thread! Lots of creative and witty plates!

I don't think you can get vanity plates for trailers in Colorado. We do have Pioneer plates for our other vehicles—it used to be you had to prove your family had been here 75 or 100 years. There was an extra $10 to do the search and my wife's family qualified. Now they give them to anyone, so you can be a Pioneer in Colorado 30 seconds after you arrive, but your trailer can't be.

Now that I looked it up, "personalized" plates are available for trailers in Colorado, but not some of the "group" plates such as Pioneer ones. They are expensive—$85 first time, $50 each year thereafter. There's a transfer fee too. The group plates have extra charges that I never knew about; they don't explain those when you renew plates.

Vanity Plates

Just sitting here at the puter I can't remember what numbers are on our plate. I have never been one for vanity plates. But I can tell ya that our plate has two important words.
HISTORIC VEHICLE
Which means I never have to pay a license fee again or renew it.

Lucy's tow vehicle, Olivia, has Florida tag 32, therefore Lucy has 32 A.
