I was accused that I treated our AS like she was a girlfriend, so we made up a name and it stuck. No one said this had to make sense.

As posted on the other license plate thread, here's ours. Get questions all the time. What's that mean? That can't be a '59, is it? Why Twinkie? Of course, our plate is up to date. This photo was taken a few years ago. Reminds me, we haven't seen our 07 tag come in the mail. Hmmm....

On my '51 the licence plate number is 51 so that worked out nicely. Then at a swap meet two years ago I found a 1951 trailer licence plate but they wouldn't let me use it even though the color is very close to what they are today, just not metallic. I was told I could put it on the trailer as you would any other additional identifier like a trailer club plaque but would have to change the color. I've painted the plate the light green of our tow vehicle and the numbers the dark green. It gets more comments than a lot of the other stuff I've done with the trailer as people seem surprised I was able to find a 1951 trailer plate. They are actually rarer than I thought.

I wanted the SC Golf license plate but the almost $200 a year kept me from jumping in. So of course I had to put my logo on the front quarters of the bus....just 'cause they seemed to need to be there.

Your trailer have a personalized plate?

Three years ago, on my first attempt, I was able to obtain the IL tag:
for my '78 Minuet. For the last three years each time that I have tried three more alternatives for my '64 Overlander, none have been available by the time my application was processed in Springfield.

My tow vehicles have the following IL plates:
83 SIUC ('99 GMC Suburban)
75 ELDO ('75 Eldorado Convertible)

P.S.: If your coach is Vintage and you haven't recently checked the integrity of your original license bracket it may be worth investigating. I hadn't checked mine since installing the plate three years ago -- returned from the Region 7 VAC Rally in Wisconsin to find that the bracket was so compromised by rust that it had crumbled from the road vibrations during my trip (the roads had been unusually rough through several construction zones) -- and my plate was missing (78 MINI). A trip to the DMV and $26.00 for a replacement plate -- now for the 60 to 90 day wait for the replacement.

I finally got my personalized plates in. I ordered them in June, the same day we bought our trailer, and they just came in yesterday.

I guess it's official - I'm hooked!

Why are the black California plates desirable?
