Your favorite Home Remedies?

My roommate that I take care of had some 'real bad' leg cramps...so we looked around on the internet and found out about quinine that can't be found anymore but there are traces of it in tonic water...anyway I was just wondering out of the whole lot of you...what are your favorite home remedies? For everything...

For leg cramps, try a couple of bananas a day.
For a toothache, hold a small amount of brandy over the tooth. (if you drink enough, you won't care if it still hurts)...

"For everything?"

For a vehicle that suffers vapor-lock, wrap aluminum foil around the steel fuel lines. Hold the foil in place with wooden clothes pins.
For a burned-out low beam headlight in a 4 headlamp system, unplug the two high-beam-only lights, and use the two "regular" headlights on "high".

For a rattling car door striker, wrap some duct tape around the striker bolt.

To preserve that rose your honey gave you, put an asprin in teh vase, and fill with water. The rose will last and look better longer.

A small dollop of aloe on a burn will help keep skin burns minimized.

Anybody else? I don't want this to be "The Terry's Home Remedies Thread".

Supposedly putting a warm wet tea bag over a toothache helps the pain.

One bar of Ivory soap, wrap in paper towel and rubber band, place under bottom sheet of bed. No more leg cramps.
YEP!! I thought so, too, but two who had leg cramp problems swore by it.
?????????? At least the price is right.

A cloth soaked in grandma's saliva will effectively wash and cure the thrush from a baby's mouth.

Vick's Salve rubbed on the bottoms of your feet, covered by socks overnight will stop a cough.

Duct tape over a wart will make it go away. I tried this, 4 days in, wart fell out.

Hydrogen peroxide, about a teaspoon per quart of water, for watering houseplants will eat away the dead and rotted roots.

Quinine pills are a bad idea. I took one a couple of months ago for leg cramps, I got so sick I thought I was going to die. These were quinine pills the doc gave me a few years earlier for leg cramps. I had taken them with good results back then. So I Googled quinine tablets and found that this is a commen occurance. So much so that docs are not giving the quinine out so readily. The best I have found for leg cramps is LOTS of water. Adios, John

Hickups

Put a pillow on floor, stand on your head (against wall if necessary) and swallow a few gulps of water. . . works every time.

if you get battery corrosion or acid in your eye, rinse the eye with milk and hold a wet milk soaked cloth on it for a while. neutralizes the acid.

if you have heart burn take a tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar.

Hi, use Mayonaise or Peanut Butter to remove sticky things; Like gum in your hair or on your shoes. Use a bar of soap to make tambors, sliding doors, and roll top desks operate smoothly and not bind. Rub your greasy, oily, hands in dirt before using soap to clean your hands. Take Midol [female medicine] for back pain. [it's a muscle relaxer] Never argue with your wife; And you will live longer and happier. Never talk about Politics, Religion, Trailer Tires, Trailer Hitches, Trailer Axles, or Trailer Brakes with friends that you want to remain as friends.

Hydrogen peroxide also is a very effective mouthwash and gargle, (per my dentist) although it foams a bit . Kills bacteria and couldn't be cheaper.

Hot tea, with honey and lemon in it, for a sore throat. My kids are now giving this to their kids.

Tea tree oil is an excellent antiseptic and also stops itching from insect bites. Tiny bottle, takes up little space, which is very important.
