Finally came up with a name - after calling it "The Trailer" for a few years...

Seeing as it's a CCD, named after Christopher Deam, and realizing that we prefer a girl's name, we're calling her Chrissy, and the truck's name is Jack - anyone remember Three's Company?

We finally decided on a name for our 28' Safari. Although girl names seem to be more popular; we felt since it is a Safari with the midnight sun interior a male name seemed more fitting.

We are simplifying our hectic lives and trying to enjoy "less is more". This lead us to name him "SimpleTin".

Since we are getting near completion with our AS, we decided it was time to come up with a name. My wife came up with Grundgetta. It was Oscar from Sesame Street's girlfriend and she also lived in an aluminum trash can. Yeah!

We call her the "Spaceship" because our 3 year old saw it and immediately thanked us for his spaceship and then promptly announced that he wanted to go to the moon.

So, when we go to the desert, we "land" on the moon.

My wife took a spanish class in college to satisfy her nursing prerequisites. They had to create a poster that displayed the important parts of their lives, in spanish. One of the things was a picture of our Airstream (newly acquired). One translation was casa rodante (house on wheels). I concatenated the words to create casarodante (more formally: nuestra casa rodante), hence the forums name and the blog...

My favorite name is what my dad calls his Airstream. His wife complained that she never saw him while he spent many, many hours restoring his first trailer (SM1) and a good bit of time working on the present one, a 34' Excella known as the SM2.
SM stands for Silver Mistress.

Send a message via Skype™ to Mr.E
I call her 'GRACE'... '72 27' Overlander

My '72 27' Overlander is called 'GRACE' as she provides.

She named herself, for it was grace that brought her into my life.

I blog her restoration here in AirForums under Mr.E and the back-story on receiving 'GRACE' on mrestreaming-dot-blogspot-dot-com.

I am always amazed by this forum! What a treasure this is!!

And the 'naming' is the most important part of the entire process.

It is from there, that the journey begins.

It is a fore-telling of fate... name her with great consideration.

As Vonnegut once said in MotherNight, c.1964 "be careful what you pretend to be, for that is what you will become" as I believe the same holds true for my 'GRACE', a gift beyond words. (May I be deserving of her gifts and never loose sight of what she represents.)

Cheers

"The short one". Why: to distinguish it from our other airstream known as "the long one".
