Big Witch Tunnel, length 348 feet, maximum height 18'1", minimum height 11.3", elevation 4412 fet above sea level.

Chances are, the road is not exactly centered in the arched tunnel. The eastbound side is closer to the edge of the tunnel, on the outside of the curve, so the lowest point over the eastbound traffic lane is lower than the lowest point over the westbound lane which is on the inside of the tunnel's curve.

In Augusta, Ga we have the Olive Road Overpass that is at 10'-5". It's not on a main road but a nice local cut through between neighborhoods so it gets the weekend warriors who rent trucks for local moves. If you rent in Augusta you sign a waiver that you are not going to use Olive Road.

The driver of the truck had a suspended license, yet was still able to rent a U-Haul. Don't they check that sort of thing before they hand over the keys?

And I'm sure it's pure coincidence that the driver who was killed was also driving without a license.

My GPS took me down a nice narrow road between two corn fields in Illinois for about a mile. I came over a little rise to find myself facing a railroad underpass signed at 8' 1". No room to turn around except for a grassy hill.

What I did not know was that it had rained a lot, followed by a hot, sunny day that dried the surface. I dug in and got stuck with the rear frame of the trailer jammed into the road surface. I had to be rescued by a tow truck. It took him and my 4WD to move the trailer. He said he had pulled out others before me in the same place. Thank goodness for Good Sam, it only cost me a tip and 90 minutes delay.

About 3 or 4 years ago on the way home from the International Rally in Madison.

No damage to the trailer except it made the rear storage box harder to latch. There was enough room at the end of the cornfield that the tow truck was able to get in front of me and we didn't even smash any corn stalks. I did leave some deep gouges in the asphalt road, though.
