Very neat pictures. I love the old barns. Something about old barns just fires my imagination about who built them and used them, how their whole life revolved around those buildings, and now they sit weathered and abandoned.
After I posted this thread this morning, traffic has DOUBLED to my site and today is far and away the highest traffic day for my site. Thanks again, its nice to know folks are seeing my work....

Your slickrock fotos, both B&W and color, are totally awesome. Some of the best I've ever seen. Sure looks like the start of a slot canyon in Utah or northern AZ.
Could you be persuaded to share the name of the location?
I am more than happy to share that information. I think you are referring to the images taken at “the wave”. The wave is on BLM land west of Page AZ. Getting there requires a fairly long drive down primitive roads and a several mile hike/bushwack. Permits are required and I think the maximum number of daily visitors is 20. If I recall correctly, it is part of the Vermilion cliff national monument, but don’t quote me on that.

Amazing pictures, really. I'm a bit of an amateur shutterbug myself. We've been to a few of the same places, not in our Airstream though. The impetus behind our recent purchase was probably a 6200 mile road trip we took last year through 12 National Parks. If you're interested, have a peek at some of our photos from our "grand tour." Hopefully once we begin our 2 year full timing expedition this July, I'll have many more pix to post as well.
In the mid 1980's, I went to Colorado and rented a motorhome for a vacation. Toured both the northern part of the state and the southern mountains. Took lots of pictures with my 35mm camera using slide film.
When I got home, I picked out several shots to enlarge and frame. They turned out to be much poorer quality than I had hoped for. (in hind-sight 20 years later, it was a combination of poor technique and the limits of a small negative).
This started me out on a quest for razor sharp pictures and the equipment that could do it.
I use a Pentax 6X7 which does almost as well as a 4X5. I also have a Mamiya 220 twin lens reflex that also makes excellent photos.
Large format I have a Tachahara 4X5, but because of the weight, bulk, expense, and time required to use it, I have used it very little over the years. (maybe after I retire I wil have time ).
It is true that 35 mm films have improved greatly in the last 20 years, but so have 120 medium format films.
But for most snapshots of the kids, etc, I use a Nikon Coolpix 8700 digital camera (8 meg). You can get razor sharp pictures printed at 8x10. I have never tried anything bigger with the digital.
As you might imagine, visits to a landscape photography page come slow, nonetheless, my page counter recently passed 60,000. Thanks! A great deal of the traffic to my website comes from you folks who appreciate the great outdoors. Here is my latest offering http://www.pbase.com/professor_chaos...9096029/medium
