I went to HD and had some 3/4" 2x4 panels cut to use as roof supports for me to lay between rivet points. On my model the top of the door frame serves as the ladder area access point. I found a rivet missing up there on my first venture.

Save the photo for the kids when they grow up! A neat family gathering in the new Airstream!

Candid photos seldom are flattering, but flattery gets you nowhere anyway! And besides, if her smile is that appealing in an unflattering photo, just how gorgeous is she in a flattering one?

" So where's the first trip and we really do need interior shots! "

I believe our first trip will be next weekend - 4 day weekend for thanksgiving up to huntsville area - my dad lives there - we will stay I think at monte sano state park...its a beautiful park - they only take limited reservations as I recall, need to call them today and ask about what checking in on thursday will be like logistically...

Thanks for mentioning that place. The Corps of Engineers training center on Sparkman Drive is only 10 miles away from the park, so if I get sent to Huntsville for training in the next year— unlikely but not impossible for them to send me off for training in my last year before retirement— I could stay at Monte Sano instead of in the hotel attached to the training center. Two birds, one stone. And it would save the Government money, too, because with prices between $22 and $28 per night, it's much cheaper than the hotel!

After I retire, I'll still have to keep Monte Sano on my to-do list; the Google Earth satellite view shows plenty of tree cover for nearly all of the sites, making it a good shady summer destination.

Should Congress pass an Affordable Airstream Act?

Some cities have affordable housing laws. Why not affordable Airstreams?

The thread, I always answer with "I have no idea, my wife bought it for me as a retirement gift" And I'ts true but I retire in 71 days, but who is counting. I do know the cost, but it's no ones business but mine and in reality I could care less what anyone else thinks.

As to the roof, I go up twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring. I was her down, check the calking and the installation of a sat dish I put on. I use a Little Giant latter, place it up against the awning with foam on the latter and up I go. The roof does not dent, but don't really care as the only one who will see it is me when I am up there and truckers.

Pharm enjoy, best of times are ahead stay well.

m.hony...im with you...but 10 month olds and 3 year olds...well, they are a different story...we do have a furnace....I will likely drag us out and camp in our toasty tin can....worst case disney movies in the warmth of our airstream

Paiceman...I hear ya...just the other night a couple we met that was a bit older than us, perhaps late 40's...when they ask "what year is it?" - I told them "new"....they gasped and he said "wow, you must really have some money man!"

I had a slight beer buzz and just said "well hell yeah, ima baller man! ive worked hard and I plan on playing hard!"
