I have no quam really with folks that would make a personal judgement that this is "too much".....but realize that as such this is their personal process of valuation of a decision....not mine...

I have no problem with calling such a purchase superfluous...but I will enjoy this purchase for the next 30+ or beyond years....only I need to be happy with my decision.

I just do not like family poking around asking me financial questions....thats my biz ya dig....ima baller, get over it

If you think you get "conversation" when you pull an Airstream, it comes NOWHERE close to what I get with a Lamborghini. Every time you put in gas you get "how much did you pay for it?" "How fast will it go?" "How many speeding tickets have you gotten?" (One) "Can I take a picture?" (Better than on the road when people lean out of their windows with their phone and snap away, and the driver gets closer and closer...) Or, you get pulled over by a cop who just wants to look at it. (Yes, this has happened...twice.) OTOH, when a guy and his son are just gawking at it (top down), and you say, "would you like to sit in it while your Dad takes your picture?" And it was the 12 year old's birthday and he said, "this is the best birthday present I've ever had!" The best of all: I'm at the Airstream dealer (ODM in Colfax NC where I bought SilverLeaf), picking up a part and a guy says, "wow! can you tow an Airstream in that?" So, if you think you get attention with an A/S just imagine what it's like when you have a rare (and gorgeous) piece of moving Italian artwork to drive! I am NOT complaining, but it's all relative!

Black in Lambospeak is "Nero Noctis." Orange is "Arancio Borealis." They have a color that I would describe as "Bilious Lime Green" -- and so on. The interiors are also pretty spectacular. I've actually had fewer QC issues with the Lambo than the A/S. Though, I confess it needed new tires at 9,000 miles. OH, and I have never done a "launch control" start, either.

Hi, and now you know why people want to call us "Airstream Millionaires". In reality, some of us are actually poor.

Most folks can find a AS to fit their budget, as long as your willing to put a little sweat equity into it. I see 70s AS in the 26-34 foot range for under $5000 very often. Most are usable condition, and will meet the needs of a weekend camper for years. Totally worth the price, of what you can afford. I looked at renting a cabin in Arcadia Maine, $180 per night, RV parking, $40 per night. Yea, totally worth the price.

Anything is easy if you devote your life to it!

I just got home from three weekends of work. Stayed many places along the way and I was always the little guy among very large units until last night when a brand new 13' ScAmp,came rolling in, with family of four. It was their 4th night ever camping. I did not ask them how much it was, very cute.

Yea they would make a great fast strike Trailer, when you want to visit friends a few hours away, but not take over their house. There is nothing like visiting friends who don't have kids. Small breakable nick nacks, all over the place, usually at eye level for a three year old..

I would have to paint it silver though..

Our Scamp was the most basic of travel trailers, $800 used and nothing to fix. There is great reliability in simplicity, almost nothing to break nor shell seams to leak. It became a winter ice fishing house for awhile, and then back to a camper by a young couple who coveted it. Still no leaks.
