The grass may be greener, but sometimes it chokes your mower.

That is about what I paid for my 28.

The other extreme is to answer "$500,000 before accessories. Just kidding. Only my wife and bookie know the real number."

I honestly can't remember what I paid. I know it was substantially less than MSRP. I have all the numbers written down in a note book from the original purchase haggling. I came across it yesterday. I tried to commit it to memory, but I can't remember anything until the end of my nose. I guess that's the reason i wrote it down in the first place. It was substantially less than MSRP, though- like 20% less, but then sales tax- ouch! It was still in the 70-80k range and that still freaks people out.

That's pretty much exactly how much we paid, including renovating the interior, for ours.

The reply is the purchased price divided by years of ownership.

My folks Silver Streak was quite expensive when new . . . but after the fifteenth year and starting to full-time (with, literally, no repairs of note) one countered the question my father noted by asking how many RV's the questioner has had over the same period.

It is NOT unusual to learn that others may have had a half-dozen or more.

So my brother today after talking with the folks that are coming to pour my concrete pad soon, told me the concrete guy was like "whoa, those things are like 80 grand"...

My brother then asked me if he was right.

I said "no, hes not"

Brother went on to say "yeah, that is what I thought, but I know they are more expensive....but that would be crazy!"

He did not press on...but I did say "yeah, they certainly are more expensive..espcially cause I bought brand new..it fit my budget fine...and I am happy with my choice..and he gave a nod to that...

A Classic is that much...

Everyone who knows me knows i have expensive tastes...
A champagne taste on a beer budget.
Only the best of the best.
It is really no different than driving a good car, living in a nice house, or wearing nice clothes.
My response has been to ask them, "Would you rather have New Balance shoes or Bobos?
Would you rather have Hellman's mayonnaise or Great Value?
Would you rather have a Lexus or a Yugo?"
I use this same comparison for phones (iPhone vs. whatever), tablets, laptops, and home computers.
Not only did I want an Airstream, I wanted the top of the line.
That's how we roll.
No sob trailer will ever be an Heirstream, or an Airstream.
