For those of you with a Wi-Fi card in your laptop or PDA I found a neat tool that I just bought from Dell. Its a Wi-Fi detector that can search out 802.11b or 802.11g signals.

Its about the size of a business card and has lights to indicate the lack or strength of signal. I just received mine from Dell yesterday and have walked around at work finding the limits of our access points.
It won't guarantee that you can connect if a signal is present, but with the number of folks now providing free access and the fact that Good Sam now has a list of wireless campgrounds, and KOA expects 20% of their campgrounds to be wireless, its a tool which beats walking around with you laptop open in an attempt to find a signal.
Cost from Dell at this point is $18.50 with free shipping. A neat stocking stuffer for Christmas!
Regards,
Jack
