Winter? What winter???

I attended our monthly WBCCI unit lunch today in a short-sleeve shirt. All kind of young girlies running around in shorts and halter tops at the shoppng center. We hit 86 day before yesterday, 81 yesterday, and expect mid-80s today. New records breaking every day. I even went out for the paper this morning in a T-shirt.

I'm pawing the ground to get out with the trailer again. I'm committed to a Rose Bowl watching party tomorrow, darn it, but I just made state park reservations for Thursday and Friday nights and I may very well stay over Saturday night, as well.

We had planned to go down to Laredo for a few days, but there has been so much violence there lately that we dropped the idea. If I can budge the wife, we just may go down in the valley for a few days.

Next major use of the trailer will be the Vintage Rally the beginning of February.

Go ahead and rub it in - see if we care! (well ok - we actually do....)

Today started with black ice on the roads, then a little flurry. That gave way to crushingly silent banks of fog rolling in across the Columbia - can't see your hand at the end of your arm, dog won't even go outside in it, FOG.

This afternoon began with rain, the sideways kind that insinuates itself into your best gortex duds and leaves you chilled, damp and feeling like a corpse.

Looking forward to the Spring.....

Its hot and dry here in N Texas. Please send some water our way. Black ice is ok. Fog is ok. Snow is ok. YOU CAN EVEN SEND HAIL. Just make it the small kind that doesn't make dents. If your travelling this way bring water. I here it's even starting to sell on the black market in Dallas.

New records

We beat the previous high temperatures at both reporting sites in Austin by 3 degrees. 86 degrees at Camp Mabry and 85 degrees at the airport. No wonder the young girls were out in shorts and halters.

If it were not for the Rose Bowl party, I would already be at a state park.

No outside fires though; everything is tinder dry. I can't even legally BBQ a steak on the back porch. ALL fireworks were prohibited over New Years which reeally made a few folks mad. There was a bunch of $500 fines levied for setting off fireworks..

It's been a steady 78-82 here for weeks. It may go as low as 50 tonight, maybe. Let me get out my thermal underwear for that!

Thumbs up

It never ceases to amaze me how diverse the weather is we all have.

I wish you water where you need it, warmth where you want it!

Personally I kinda like the cold (sick eh?)

Unusual winter this year.

It has been 75-77 degrees in Tenn. Tuesday & Wednesday but, change is coming fast. It is suppose to be a high of 40 degrees on Thursday.

I am starting thru complete checkout of the trailer to be out all summer this year. Short sleeves in January.

We've had major fires here in Texas. Part of our cattle operation is near Cross Plains, Texas in Callahan County. Virtually one third of the homes in this town with a population of only 1018 burned to the ground. At last count, 129 homes were completely burned down. A few businesses and churces as well as motorhomes, vehicles, barns, fences, all telephone systems were lost. Two women lost their lives as their houses burned down around them. Cattle and horses lying dead everywhere you look where the fire raged. Others suffered burns so severe that they were put down as it was the only humane thing to do. Business and life in Cross Plains will never be the same no matter what is done to make repairs in the fire's aftermath. Major fires continue to rage at this time. Over 250,000 acres have burned in the week following Christmas Day according to news accounts. To those upset with burn bans and bans on the use of fireworks, ... well they are just CRAZY.

This weather stinks.

We have had great spring weather here, been watching the forcast the last few days and it was to be sunny and highs 50 to 60's. Last night it dropped down to 28 and I just got up and we have snow on the ground not much but snow. We hardly ever see snow. Kinda blows our weekend planning again of a 3 day vulkem makeover. Just makes me sick for the last month the weekends have been rainy or just to cold. We took the tarp off Peppy 2 days ago and I had been washing and waxing and now he is dusted with snow hope we dont find any new leaks.

Wet Winter in California

December to about March or April is generally the rainy season in Northern California. We seldom have rain of any measurable amount in any other month.

On our maiden voyage with our new Airstream we just happened to chose one of the rainiest days of the past 10 years and here's what it looked like in the campground in Vacaville:
