Thanks for your concern but we will fortunately be safe. Unfortunately for a lot of families in the Waycross, GA to Valdosta, GA area it is too late for their homes and the areas around them.

The fires are in South Georgia near the Florida/Georgia state line. That is about 250 miles away from Atlanta. However, early last week the winds were carrying the smoke all the way up to the north central part of the state where we live in the south metro area. We are in no danger, but there is a 100 square mile area that has already burned over the last two weeks and the fires are only about 70% contained.

Saco, ME

The last northeaster storm in New England took its toll near my house in Maine. There were at least four homes sucked into the ocean surge in Saco, ME. The banks of the Saco River overflowed and caused lots of flooding too. Cars and property were sucked into the water too. The cleanup still continues.

"Winter" is still here until June1, the start of rainy season. "Winter" is also known as brush fire season here, although the temps are now in the 90's. Maybe we can call it "spring", or "not summer"...

I'll take Florida's winter over Maine's winter anyday!

Hey Terry, I was down your way this past winter. A few of us from the forums took our Airstreams to Disney for a week and then to Jetty Park. I recognize the name of your city, Cape Fear, because I remember seeing it on an exit sign on Rte 95. When I saw it, it brought back memories of that movie by the same name.

Now, it will bring different memories!

Man, that's our favorite place to camp. We've been three times in the last year and going three more times in the next 7 months.

Been thinking about getting a group together to go to Ft. Wilderness for a rally or something sometime soon. Were you able to get sites together? Was it hard to get them? Did you use Magical Gatherings to arrange them? How far in advance did you have to book to get them together?
