I want to say in advance SORRY. This is my opinion and I am trying to bridge the gap here...
I would like to know what is up with the flamingos. I simply do not get it. I do not understand it. I really do not like them and find them totally tacky. At a recent rally they were everywhere, and I just do not understand. Can someone please explain it to me? Can someone enlighten me?
Frank, It's a symbol of what Wally did with the travel trailer. Took something that was relegated to the Gypsies and Vagabonds and turned it into something elegant and pure Americana.
Bob, are you drinking this early in the day? I look to you for insight and you give me some 2Airish info... could you double space those lines, that way I might understand it better.
Frank, I hate 'em too...My wife loves 'em... As long as she keeps their presence down to a dull roar, I let her have a few, and display them (unobtrusively).
I think that may be why they are popular among RVers. Most people don't like them, for the reasons you stated in your first post. Since it is so tacky, and so many people don't like them, the ones that do like them display them as a symbol of going against the crowd.
As I write this, I'm looking at the paper towel dispenser, with its flamingo-shaped wire ornament on top...

Perhaps a lovely video will inspire a new appreciation for the real bird and vicariously it's plastic embodiment - scroll down to Flamingos Hanging Out....
