Not everyone "gets" silver shiny aluminum trailers, after all.
And thank goodness for that.

Great response. We should celebrate our differences. I tend to not sweat... the things I don't get.

The fodders of our country would side with 2air. Ben Franklin was aghast that the low-down fishhawk of a bawled eegle was nominated for the national byrd. Ol' Ben was definitely on the side of the cogitatin' cognizatin' big tom turkey.
So ... not turkey vulture. Turkey! 'cept I still don't care much for the leftovers... tastes like whooping crane.

Ya Know, I still don't quite get it either, but I have two. I plant them at either end of the awning to remind me to duck. They keep me from crackin my skull on the awning arm when they are at a low altitude,LOL

the plastic flamingo is pink 4 a reason...
lettuce not 4get the original LIVING bird is also pink...
they R a beautiful bird so what better way to honor them than with a plastic effigy?
plastic pink birds are cheep so low income trailer dwellers can afford them and put them on their lawns...
This has carried over 2 the AS culture n become ticky TACKY art...
So enjoy! or paint a plastic turkey pink! FU like turky buzzards better, try this link...

I dont think it is a matter of " getting it", as much as is it a tradition. Why do we only eat turkey and all the trimmings on Thanksgiving? Because it is a tradition. We could easily invite the family over at any given time and cook up A turkey but we dont. I never paid much attention to the flamingo until I got an Airstream. I think they are to some, a symbol of camping. It reminds us of what a great time we have when out on the road or relaxing by the campfire. So for me, Airstream's and Flamingo's go together just like Turkey and Dressing.

Well, this has been an entertaining thread. I still do not "get it", however, I never did sweat it. I hope all those out there that like their pink Flamingos continue to display them proudly. I on the other hand am trying to find a way to alter my trap thrower to throw the flamingo. Pink is a good color for the eye to track as streaks across the sky. The three dimensional shape is also more realist than the clay discs we currently use.

The weight of the head at the end of the long neck will cause an erratic flight path, resulting in a much more difficult target.

True, Terry, and I don't think it would get much distance either. Silhouette shooting may be the best option.

Yes, the flamingo's head can get a bit weighty...
