Where's Bob Cross?

I realized a while ago I hadn't seen a post by Bob Cross for some time. A couple of weeks ago I sent him a PM and asked him if he was ok. There has been no response. Today I checked and his last post was in April.

Has anyone heard from him or know how he is?

I miss Bob too. He was helping me with converter questions in March. Always helpful and often funny, hope all is fine and he returns soon!

Hmmm.... ? Mods can't spill all. But it looks like y'all have his timeframe for last AIR participation pretty well defined.

Inquiring minds want to know... Hope all is okay.

What can you "spill" Bob?

I like your new tow vehicle.

Bob C and I were exchanging emails directly, then suddenly his email address stopped receiving emails.

I had hoped he'd gotten a new address but it was quite sudden, and unexpected.

I am hoping for good news.........

Good News........

I exchanged an email with Bob's brother and he indicates that Bob is fine, using his Airstream, and at the moment doesn't seem highly motivated to repair his broken computer. I think he is having too much fun out Airstream'ing .

There has to be a moral to this story..........

I did suggest to his brother that he tell Bob we are missing his posts on the forums.

Lotsa good ones missing on the forums. Seems to be a subject not welcomed by the management.
Bob Cross should be flattered that several to many care.

I asked lately about old Porky Pig and there was little response.
He too was/is a good guy. Hope all the Missing are well.
and there are so many more...gone but not forgotten (at least by me).
Here's a link to the missing Porky thread.

Right. Good one...

For some while now Porky has tended to post in regional rally threads. When he posts. I wish I could freeze the neighborhood in time. I know some old regulars who wish for more of the old resto progress threads. Tune in to your favorite traditional media source. The more thing change the more they ... don't stay the same. We pilot the ferry across the river, whether high or low water.

Good to hear Bob's okay and it's his computer that's sick and not him.

Almost 40 years ago Bob was working in a garage in Buffalo and I, who lived there then also, took a car to that garage to get a starter replaced. I don't remember if I met him, but maybe he did the work. He was also know to frequent a bar in the Allentown section I had some familiarity with. We lived not too far apart. It took this Forum to discover this common thread going back many years.

I too have met some wonderful people because of this forum (and the Airstream factor), Gene. No one from my past life like yourself, but wonderful people who I'm proud to know. There are many others whose posts I've read and enjoyed who I'm hoping to meet some day.

I know how Forums work with folks - at some point many people just need to take a break from them, some permanently, some thankfully just for a wee while, or they pop in seldom and read only.

You mention 40 years ago? Not many folks had a vehicle to repair when they were twelve years old Gene. And not many 12 year old mechanics. Now I can understand the lure of a fine establishment for beverages when one is 12 - nothing like a milkshake at the end of the day.

This afternoon, Bob was in an Apple Store, presumably in Buffalo. If he is getting a new electronic device, maybe we will hear from him soon.
