Winterizing? We don't need no stinking winterizing.

Mine's where it always is unless I'm in it and we're not were we are now.

On the side of my brand new 120 foot RV pad hooked up to 30 amp service, water, and dump station. Just built the house and told the builder he could mess up the kitchen but don't dare mess up the garage or RV pad. Non-negotiable. Wife didn't agree for some reason but all went well.

Where is it?

Around me, where it will be the rest of the winter unless a forum rally lures me to tug it farther south after the new year.

In Dixie, all we need to know about winterizing is PEX and propane.

I'll explain that a little more. Electricity can keep the inside warm, but there's no substitue for running the furnace below freezing because it warms the tanks and keeps them from freezing. A little bit of both, then, is all we need to winter here in the deep south.

A little further south, and even this is not a consideration.

But do I have a little plumbing work to do? Yes, the crimped on fittings in my plumbing system seem to be failing one by one about once every two months. I am slowly replacing them with PEX and Qwest fittings as I go along.

I converted the Argosy completely to PEX in 1993, but so far my enthusiam has only been to fix the Excella as I go along.

Maybe I'm more trusting now?

Lamar

"Baby Huey" is in Quartzsite, AZ ... and we're in it, of course.

Tomorrow we'll be in Gold Canyon, AZ for the winter ... no need to winterize!

Where is my Airstream?

First there is a term being used that I am not familiar with. Winterizing. Hmmmm. I will have to do more research.

Anywhoo, my next door neighbor is a prince among men and moved his property line fence from even with the front corner of his house to the back corner so I can make the swing into our back yard. I am just plain lucky.

So that is where it is. This "winter" we will go with the Florida Unit to Fort Christmas for some volunteer work from Nov 28th to Dec 5th, then polish the trailer for the next season beginning with the Florida State Rally in February, the St. Augustine Easter Parade in April and a 3-4 month trip to the northland starting in June.

I don't think I could stand not being able to step out the door of the Florida room and into the trailer. Wish I had a covered carport for it, but it is sitting on an easement and I can't put up a permanent structure. Sigh..

It is a tight squeeze. The first thing I learned to do was to back up. The distance from the fence to the house is 10 feet. Talk about threading a needle!

Update

I visited the RV storage yard where I keep my 75 Trade Wind. The trailer is holding up well against the harsh reality of the Phoenix winter. The sub 60 degree nights have not taken their toll on the unit as of yet!

We have all winter to gloat about the weather. If you notice, when it is 115 degrees in Phoenix, I'm talking about anything else!

Let it snow, let it snow!

My Girls (MoonBeam, SS Lighthouse and Ella) all have had their first real snow for the season - had a real light dusting onthe 17th - but this is substantial and she is still falling - looks like we are going to get about 5-6 inches they say but it is well past than on my driveway already.

Pictured is SS Lighthouse...so tell me why is it we can not just take a normal picture of our Airstreams - always gottabe artsyfartsy

Happy Thanksgiving!
