Where Are The N.Y. Dealers???

I just clicked on the find a dealer tab on the new AS site.
Guess what?? N.Y. has none!!! What is happening to our support system. Where is the Factory, and what is there responsibilty in all this. I had a feeling that my selling dealer in Darian N.Y. would go belly-up, but I had no idea they were the only ones!!!

LOST IN N.Y.

I wonder why all of NY can't support one dealer. At least Colonial is only 2-3 hours for me.

I'm sure there are dealers, they either may be low-volume, or not have a website. Florida lists only one dealership, Bates, but I know for a fact there is at least one more, since I can look out the front window in our house and see another one. Plus, our trailer was repaired by the Airstream dealer in Englewood Florida, and they are not listed either.

Try the Airstream dealer in Watertown, CT (off Rte 84), Valenti's RV Legends. They are great to deal with and their service department is excellent. They have a technician in their service department (George) that knows everything about the Airstream.

Terry,
The Airstream site shows 4 dealers for the sunshine state:
  • Bates RV
  • JD Sanders, inc
  • RV World of Nokomis
  • Vanland RV
The last one is listed as being in NFM.

And when I clicked on "show dealers" only Bates showed on my list.
Our Airstream was purchased new from Avalon Trailer Sales in Buffalo.

Buffalo, N.Y.???

Wouldn't you think the new AS site would list all dealers whether they had a web site or not??

hi rc'

according to my dealer list, the were 2 in ny state..

shining time express on us 20 in darien center. ny...

Shining Time II - Airstream Sales, Parts, and Service

and caps and campers in cicero, ny.

Caps & Campers

c & c was/is a b van dealer only (westfalia)...

and s.t.e stopped dealing a/s late last model year...

so there are currently (july07) NO dealers in ny state...

i would guess the darien center business can still do repair work and either might do dometic repairs.

cheers
2air'

on edit i see in your note that s.t.e. is out of business? or just not selling a/s nemore?

buffalo is sort of at the 'edge' of the eastern planet with all that water and canada nearby...

there is a dealer in greensburg pa (a/s of western pa)

florida:

in addition to the 4 dealers noted above from the a/s website...

a/s of south florida (brown truck & equipment company) in riviera beach

Isuzu of Palm Beach - Commercial Truck Sales - Isuzu Box Trucks, Landscape Dump Trucks, New and Used Kenworth, GMC, Isuzu, Mitsubishi

and dick gore rv world (b vans only) in jacksonville

gives florida 6 dealers...

cheers

We bought our 03 Classic from Shining Time. Literally a Mom and Pop operation, with one part time technician, and a less than part time son helping out.
Our classic was one of five new AS on the lot, none of which was a current year model at the time. I know, I know that should have been a dead give-away, but it was optioned out well, and had the perfect interior furnishing's that Sandra really fell in love with. And although it was 6mos old at the time, the price was more than right, so we took the plunge. Although wev'e had more than our share of concerns, what I regret most is not having enough room to keep our "63" Safari.

I get the feeling that most of us really don't mind and actually enjoy working on our Stream's, but just wish we had more choice in what we are working on. Maybe some personalization or some nice custom touch's, instead of fixing factory goof's and foul-ups.
Right now this Fridge recall has been a real concern for both of us. Sandra was the first to read the notice and to say it shocked her would be an understatement. Went to Camping World in early June to inquire about having it done and was told that, no they haven't had an AS in yet. (still haven't). But boy those AS are hard to work on so better plan on not waiting> yeah right!!!
When I went to the new AS site to locate the closest dealer, London Ont popped up. Not one in NYS. Dissappointed, yeah I guess so!!!

Parkview RV in Smyrna, Delaware just anounced a few weeks ago that, due to "declining sales", they would no longer be an Airstream dealership, but has an agreement with Airstream to continue to sell parts and do repair work. It's unfortunate for the Airstream business in general, but I'm reasonably certain that I'll never buy another new one.

Also, RV World of Nokomis is an Airstream dealer. Also not listed, so there are 7 and counting. Maybe y'all should move to Florida to get a new Airstream.

AS Dealers

Hello All. Valenti's RV in Watertown CT has been closed for several years. I go by there quite often and it is now a car dealership.
Also I called Holiday on Wheels in Paterson NY and there was no answer from any of the numbers listed. Also on one of the Holiday on Wheels hits it listed that Holiday on Wheels.com site was up for sale, so it looks like they are also out of business.

iirc, GSM by Nomad is at least the 2nd or 3rd successor / different company derived from what once was GSM Vehicles in Plattsburgh, NY.

it's arguable that the greater part of the original GSM Vehicles' Airstream creativity and drive (and GSM's reputation for those qualities) was in the person of Colin Hyde. Colin left GSM and has been running Colin Hyde Trailer Restorations, his own very successful and independent Airstream repair and restoration business for a number of years by now.

at a guess, it looks like GSM by Nomad is the owner or partner of Nomad Airstream. it is good to see new Airstream dealerships open and become successful, and we wish them well as they develop and grow their own respective reputations.

George, formerly of Valenti's RV in Waterbury, CT, can be found here WELCOME TO CLASSIC RV REPAIR & RESTORATIONS, LLC..

George's independent shop is just off Interstate 84 in Holmes, NY.

George comes highly recommended by a number of forums members.
