It is 27 degrees outside.....and snowing!

First snow of the season in central Illinois.

Sixty degrees, partly cloudy, with a low chance of rain here in south Louisiana. The ten-day forecast shows that we'll have a couple of overnight lows somewhere around 40°F, but nowhere near cold enough to worry about winterizing just yet.

Same here re: firewood. I quite like the 'hunkering down' feeling when winter arrives.

Nine below zero F this morning when I got to work. Chilly! Snow yesterday, but none today so far.

Yep, there's a part of me that likes it, too.

Hi Maggie!

It's 36 degrees F here in Central Ohio. If I remember correctly, we had our first flurries in early October, but they are saying this weekend (Sunday?) there is a possibility we may have some accumulation.

I'll bet your wood fire feels great, we miss ours! (We have a wood burner, but haven't used it in a while -- afraid it will dry out our new(er) wood flooring, but keep it ready for an emergency.) We have had a geothermal furnace since '97, and it keeps it warm in here, but not like a wood burner. It's nice not to have the mess from the wood burner, but nothing really compares to a wood fire on cold days!!

Actually, we're talking about putting another wood burner in our basement when I retire and close out my studio down there. That would be ideal since it is a walk-out basement (carry the ashes out that way) and we could put down a tile floor so the heat wouldn't be an issue. What I'd really like is to pull up the carpet, leave the cement exposed, seal that and just have an area rug down there.

Hi Deb!

Yes, I do love the woodstove,

Can't imagine winters without it, tho think at some point I will replace it with a pellet stove.

A woodstove in your basement would generate a lot of heat for your house....lots of wood furnaces out there.

In the Florida Panhandle, on the ocean, 50 miles east of Pensacola, it is currently partly cloudy and 72 degrees. The forecast for Friday night is 38 degrees right on the coast. It's way early for this kind of weather.

Phx AZ: 75 with a 10 day forecast of mid 70's with night time low 50's. This is when we rejoice and come out of the air conditioners. Can leave the inner doors open all night, got the flowers planted, sat outside at a restaurant this past weekend, time to reacquaint ourselves with our light jackets. And we tell ourselves "This is why we live here"

Wow. It's those summers I couldn't handle.

Enjoy.

Our cold front is coming your direction.

It is a bit early for it.

Phoenix, AZ -- Forecast for this week is mid- to high-70s daytime, with overnight lows of 50-55 degrees, and calm winds (as usual). -- We don't need no stinkin' RV antifreeze!

Come on down!

Mmmmm.

I do like and enjoy the change in the seasons, so altho I am whimpering a little at the early snow......I am not really complaining.

The farmers around here harvested more corn and beans than they had room to store this year, so they would say the weather has been good to them, even if the ground freezes before they can plow it under.
