We ended up with 10" of heavy snow that took out the power around noon yesterday. It came back on this morning at 5:30. We had a couple of brief false starts last night when it came on briefly and then went out again. Hope it stays on long enough to cook the turkey.

My tractor is out of commission waiting for parts so a friend will try to plow us out. It's long difficult driveway that is better suited to plowing by tractor, but I'm sure we'll get it passable before guests arrive.

A Happy Turkey to all!

30 degrees with a dusting of snow and still snowing. Family arrived last night and looking forward to smelling everything cooking today. Also got our reservations made for Edisto Island State Park for Christmas! Life is good!

When you get a break in the weather, and major highways are safe.....go! Make your first couple of driving days long ones, and you will be out of the worst of it.

I have taken to storing items from the Interstate, that must be brought inside, in those lovely, large, re-usable shopping bags you can find everywhere.

Get your frig loaded and your clothes inside, schlep the bags out and unpack as you go. If there are two of you, one can putter some while the other drives, or just go at it together once you are parked for the night.

We have found this easier than trying to pack the Interstate completely in nasty weather.

Just go.

This will be our first trip to Edisto. First time away from home on Christmas in 45 years of marriage. Now it will all come together for the two of us in the Airstream. Priceless!

I've never been there in December...could be a bit chilly...but, as we always said, even a cold day at Edisto is a good day.

Shelling should be excellent. Walk the beach, walk the beach, walk the beach.

Lily and I will be there for two weeks in March. Cannot wait.

Enjoy,

Maggie

It will probably be a little chilly, but here at home chilly would sound great. We are just a little less than 3000 feet in elevation so chilly will be fine. Walking the beach, especially with the pups will be our greatest pleasure.

After a weekend of daytime temps at 50 degrees or so, it dropped like a stone last night and was 23 degrees with a 7 degree windchill this morning.

December 1st.

Another month or so of these temps, and I will be outta here.

High temperatures predicted for mid-seventies all week, lows in the high fifties or low sixties, low chance of rain. Beautiful fall weather! Which is entirely appropriate for south Louisiana where the leaves on the trees are just now turning their fall colors.

In the 80's yesterday afternoon. 30's this morning and temps falling all day. Cold north wind.

In other words, a typical Texas cold front.

56°F at 5:30 the morning on the way to work, with shut-out fog. But I don't mind fog; why breathe your air when you can drink it instead?

Yep, humidity is the name of the game in Louisiana.....still a beautiful state, one full of history, and a favorite of ours.

15 degrees here this am.
