It's always kind of funny to see people bundled in coats when it's perhaps 60 degrees, talking about how it's "freezing" outside!

We would be in shirtsleeves, thinking "Honey....you don't really know what cold is."

Back when I was in college in Oklahoma, I thought nothing about going outside in short sleeves and no coat with snow on the ground, as long as it wasn't too windy and I wasn't going to be outside more than about half an hour. But after living in southern Louisiana for more than half my life, I start digging out at least a light jacket when the temperatures get into the fifties! Just another sign that I'm getting old, I guess…

But at least I haven't needed to winterize yet this year! The "heat island" effect of a metropolitan area means that while areas outside town had at least a light freeze last night, temperatures haven't dropped below the high thirties here in town.

Here in NW Ohio Blizzard Bill said if it stays below +23 F it will be the coldest high temp for November 18 all the way back to 1880, 134 years. I wonder what the global warming people have to say about that?

They've all switched to "climate change" people. That way they're never wrong.....

Up to 17 degrees, with a windchill of 3.

I dug out fleece, thermal and heavy socks this am.

Lily's day for doggie day care.....7:30am, she looked at me like "are you kidding me, you want me to go out in THAT?

But, she went, of course. Doug called her the doggie social chairman.

No, no.....I will be here thru the holidays and at least the first week of January, but thanks for the invite.

When I leave in January will depend on weather here, and something that is pending but yet to be scheduled.

Canopener looks like great fun, and there are lots of folks there I would love to see and meet.

I got tired of the sub-zero weather so I went south today, to Cheyenne, WY. It's 39 degrees here! That's above freezing. It's almost tropical.

This morning it was 8 degrees, snow everywhere, gale force winds and DARK. (I hate the change over from DST)

However, Baby is tucked away in her stall in the barn in a garden of fragrant mothballs. Her trusty TV is parked right beside her. She's happy.

Here in the cabin in the woods, it's 70 degrees, there's a fire in the fireplace, and I'm on my iPad with some of the best friends a guy could have. Who could ask for more? After all, this is Iowa. Not exactly the end of the world, but you can see iiit from here.

Nice, terryv.

It has not made it to 70 today in the little house, but I have been comfy enough, and much prefer the heat from the woodstove to the furnace....and it must be one or the other.

You are also in Iowa.....have I mentioned to you the Moraine View rally second weekend in June? All you Iowans should try to make it over.

Virtual friends can then meet, which is so very nice.

Stay warm,

Maggie

Thanks Maggie. Part of our decision to go back to an AS was to join a group of like minded people in rallies and get-togethers. So far, we haven't had the time to do that. June sounds good. We will try to get over there.

There will be a thread on the rally page, and mid-December you can make a reservation thru Reserve America.

Will look for you there.

We're having a little respite from the deep freeze.....going to be 31 today!

Lily says.....cold enough for me.

I'm hearing of 5 feet of lake effect snow.

I think I would just hunker down inside and wait for the thaw.
