Our New Year's Resolution is to waste as much of our Airstream storage cost as possible, as Lucy will be out on trips, and not in storage.

To finally find an Airstream!

We've been diligently searching since July when we totaled our 30' Classic. Did it take everyone this long to find the perfect one?

We started looking in 1977 (not a typo) for just the "right" one, needed to be vintage, pre 1960 preferably, and the more we looked at various ones the more fussy we got about size, condition at time of purchase, and the age. In 2003 we finally found the one. We were not trailer-less during this time having many SOB's but were always on the look out for Airstreams where ever we traveled. Sick, I know. Who can wait that long?

It paid off, and we were young enough that we still have 20 or more years of adventuring in our Airstream left.

With that in mind, though, the penalty for taking so long, and being so fussy, was we watched prices consistently increase, the availability of vintage units shrink, and we went far far far too long without an Airstream.

Are you looking for an exact replacement? Having had that first unit would you now choose one with different options?

Good luck in your hunt. That can be very exciting too.

Barry

May be Airstream should offer an engraved plate with this on it...

“Life is only lived in this moment, which is fleeting, constantly changing. If only we’d stop embalming life, freezing it into a view, we’d experience life as it is and at it’s fullest”

Hey Lynn,

If you're friendly with the Doc, He(She?) might even let you watch the procedure and not put you totally out of it. Mine did and it was a very educational experiece....to say the least!!

Oh ya......resolutions.........

Even though I work non-stop for 7-8 months of the year...try to live each day like it was your last and appreciate the sights, sounds and experiences that make each day unique..........

And try to decide if I'm keeping my '06 19CCD or going Vintage with a totally custom interior?

Great! I love W.A.C.C.I Radio. But, shouldn't we be decreasing our carbon footprint?

Yep, my doctor is one that doesn't put me completely under. That's when I asked if I could watch. Told him how interesting I found my last root canal (even though I tended to want to hog the view with my mirror). He just looked at me like I was nuts.

No, we shouldn't be decreasing our carbon footprint, because if we did, that means the Airstream sits! I say travel all around and if your conscience bothers you then plant a tree in your yard to make up for it or plant a tree in each campground you stay at.
