Question What's your favorite campground?

Everyone must have an opinion for their favorite campground. What's yours?.

My choice would be Tunnel Mountain Campground in Banff Alberta. The scenery is breathtaking, lots of wildlife in the area and great hiking trails are available.

In your opinion, what's your favorite and why have you chosen it?

I'm a boondocker, but I was pleasantly surprised by the small RV park on the waterfront right at the tip of land in Port Townsend, WA (Pt Hudson). You look out across the Sound to the San Juans. Heading west, Olympic National Park is nearby--it's a great loop to drive the highway all the way around, with state parks on the Pacific Beaches.

Pygmy boats (kit kayaks) is right there at the RV park and downtown is adjacent and very eclectic. I think it's a great (and surprising) choice for a little civilized civilization on a long trip.

Yosemite...
In the valley it is the North Pines Campground along the Merced River.
Up in the high country it's Ellery Lake off Hwy 120, Tioga Pass.

When I really want to get away from everything and everybody, I Boondock in the Kaiser Wilderness Area up above Shaver Lake, Hwy 168 in the Sierra National Forest.

Zep that is a great campground. It can't get much better than that being right on the water and in walking distance of great food. We also like the state park up the road.

My favorite campground which I have no digital pictures of as yet is Many Glacier in GNP. Walk to the lodge for a cabaret, great pizza when you're to tired from hiking to cook at the small restaurant near the campground. Cool off your feet and beers in the creek. And boy there are 4 great hikes right out of the campground. You might even get a glimpse of a grizzly.

Hi Mark,

I'm not sure how much of a secret it is anymore now that your photo is available to be seen by over 15000 forum members

My favorite campground is anywhere the Silver Pill is parked! I perfer not to be in a campground. With hundreds of miles of forest land to camp in, why squeeze into a campsite where your neighbors are so close? When camped outside of the campground we can let the dogs enjoy the forest with out being tied up, we can listen to the music we want or no music at all.
