Why don't you believe me??????????
I have one of those, and have been using it for years. It is a support for the bunk bed. The Airstream factory recalled them because they develop
hairline cracks over time. I sell the newer improved, safer, magneseum balanced support for $429.99 plus shipping.

Rumor Has it....
Okay....now that all the 'crackpots' have given their answers, it's time for the truth
This device is a valuable antique with a nautical theme. Yep...it's the original harpoon from the 1950's version of Moby Dick. Just look at it for a long time and you'll see images of Captain Ahab chasing a flamingo or was it a whale?

Get a clue!!!
Sorry, but you are all incorrect.
The metal object is one of the possible "murder" weapons in the Airstream Edition of the boardgame Clue, and the Flamingo is one of the board game pieces. You should check it out, characters include Wally and Stella Byam, Dr. Argosy, Miss Bambi, and Prof. Overlander.

PUT IT BACK! The owner of that Airstream MOHO windup key is gonna need it next time he/she wants to hit the road. For those of you who don't own motor homes here's how it works:
How to wind up an AS Motor home (from the 1992 AS Owners Manual page 47, basic maintenance, section b, 4)
1. Turn off vehicle and extinguish all smoking materials.
2. Insert key into winding mechanism found under small louvered door just to the left of MOHO side entry.
3. Turn key clockwise, counting clicks until key feels snug or you count 24 clicks. Do not over-tighten.
4. Remove key and be sure to latch door/cover (these covers are no longer made and many owners have lost doors during transit. You may be able to find a replacement at Cowlaws salvage or on ebay - maybe... Be prepared to pay top dollar)
5. Stow key for further use.
Cruising range of one fully wound mechanism is 362 miles.
Special exceptions:
1. Make-work laws in Oregon, Pittsburgh and a few other places prohibit vehicle owners from fueling their vehicles. Only an employee of a certified fueling stop may turn your key in these states. In Oregon those holding Public utility cards do not pay fueling taxes; In Pittsburgh you must pay mandatory city fuel surcharges.
2. In Montana and Idaho it is permissible to leave your vehicle running during rewind.
3. In Alaska You are required to extinguish all smoking materials except marijuana bearing AK state tax seal.
What to do if you lose the winding key:- Any certified AS dealer should have these in stock - be sure to specify the year make and model of your MOHO as there is a 20% restocking fee if you get the wrong one.
- If you need one in an emergency situation e.g. you forgot to stow your key, lost it on the side of the hwy and ran down in North Dakota, simply flag down any AS MOHO owner - they are prevalent and one will come along soon. The owners are very friendly and will be happy to help.

Janet,
That is one of the funniest things I've read in some time. Thanks for the laugh.
