What's the deal with those pink flamingos?

Seems like every time I see an Airstream parked, there are these pink flamingos flocking about the place. Can anyone give me some history as to the origin of these and campers?

Does any one have pics of their A/S with Pink Flamingos to share?

P.S. I am the new owner of a neon p.f. and am considering displaying it in the front window. (Only on special occasions though, of course.)

hey gwen

i don't know if you remember the bascom hill flamingoes in madison.

but, here is a pic of me setting mine out. i put them right under the awning arms to keep people (me included) from walking into them at night. especially after a couple of miller high lifes!

Pink Flamingoes & Airstreams

Maybe the two mid-twentieth century American icons just go together?

:)

I would venture to say that many of us Airstream owners have pink flamingos. They do go together. I have them. Who else?

I agree with Edie & Brad...the two vintage icons go together naturally! Negative karisma ~

Here's ours...

a little pink history.....

Trailers and pink flamingos have been a "horse and carriage" combination since before the John Waters movie. Absolutely Divine!

Glad to see we're not the only ones........

Have the two plastic flamingoes at the pond (aka: large blue plastic bowl which serves as Darcy the Scottish Terrier's water bowl), a Turner Flamingo print on the wall, a bobbing Flamingo and a Shell art lamp with Flamingo above the gaucho for our night light. And two wooden Flamingoes on the fold out table.

Now just trying to figure out how to light up internally the two outdoor flamingoes. Suggestions appreciated.

Pink Flamingo in Alaska

When we took an airboat nature tour in Sitka, Alaska to look at brown bears, eagles, whales, etc., we also saw a pink flamingo in a tree way out in the wilderness. Practical jokesters everywhere.

Hey Chris,

What I meant was I didn't have any "Pinkies" as a matter of fact I don't remember if I've ever seen any with an A/S. If I had any I would be a Happy Camper to let you have them cause I would probably wind up falling over them if I was to use them.

Hey John! I just noticed the date in the lower right corner of your photo -- that photo was taken on my birthday!

And, I mean the "5/17" part of the date; not the "1999!"

Personally, you couldn't run fast enough to give me a pink flamingo! But, then, I play with toy trains, so who am I to say anything?

I can run pretty fast. Faster than your scale model railroad engine
