Back to Flamingo's

When we travel, and we rent a site we will be at for a couple of days that is in the open, like at the beach, we fly all our flags. This includes this 16 foot tall feather flag.

About the pink birds...

Don't you think they would really look better if they were painted silver?

some uselless flamingo trivia

I saw on cable the other night where there are 700 plastic flamingoes in the USA for each live one. Only some cable show would run around counting such trivia! I'm sure everyone is going to sleep better keeping up with such facts.

At least we won't have to worry about the plastic ones being on the endangered species list

In 50,000 years, when whatever species inherits the earth, and they've evolved to the point that they seek their roots and their archeologists begin to dig down in to the "roadbuilder" culture, how will they interpret the significance of millions of plastic pink birds adorning thousands of large aluminum tubes with stoves and plumbing? Tombs of Kings? Places of worship? hmmm...

I just made a trip to my local Super Wally (Wal-Mart) and saw that they have a really cool neon pink flamingo lamp. Stands about 16" high. 120V. I believe around $18. I would have bought it just for fun, but I'm still bleeding aluminum on real necessities.

Trivia

If you have flamingos, they MUST be pink. Has anyone ever seen a "silver flamingo"?

I have posted a PPF page at
http://sierranevadaairstreams.org/ow...kflamingo.html
If you have suggestions for links I need to add or trivia or something else that should help people understand the phenomena or perhaps, Lord Forbid!, join it, let me know.

Perhaps we can even put together a photo gallery of PPF's in an Airstream RV environment?

I give up--there are no original thoughts! About 6 years ago, as I was just getting into AS #2 (and totally oblivious that there were other cool people out there in the world), I was regaling friends with the thought that a series of flapping neon pink flamingos down the side of the trailer would be perfect for a late evening streak through an AS rally--thin the population via appoplexy, thougt I.

Ha! I'm gathering that all I would have gotten was applause and hoo-rahs.

Maybe I should put lifters on the axle so I can do the lowrider dance as I pull through the rally! Ooh, lifters and flamingos!!

Minger Mother Lode!

Our trip to Door County, Wisconsin has been lucrative in our pursuit of Beanie Baby pink Flamingos. On an excursion to an antique store my wife found two orphans in need of adoption and a visit to a gift shop with a "Beanie Babies" sign out front yielded the mother lode! The lady running the shop had three of the large ones that had never been unpacked! We "adopted" the three big ones, so now our 19 babies have mommas.

We are definitely losing free space in our credenza as we add to our traveling "family".
