What's on your mind.....
i love airstreams.....i looked at 3 today on the way back from work.
2 were completely gutted and being used for storge...and the 3rd was a 69 in pretty good condition 30-31 long, rear bath, 2 beds, 3 burner stove just to the left as you come into the coach....fridge had been replaced, skin in perfect shape, big awning gone, small awnings need material replaced...no rear end sag...all in all great shape. said he got it for free, i offered a check for 1000.00 he took my card and looked pretty interested...lots of "well we have never used it, ,,,my wife does'nt like it in the drive, ...no time......" i feel pretty good on this one....
I swear someday I will break my neck looking into peoples back yards while I am driving....

Ain't it fun?
I've gotten bad about searching back yards too. My mother in law and aunt ride around the country with me frequently(we do garage sales and road trips) and they are trained to look also. If I see someone in the yard I just stop and talk. Found one lady who bought one just because she always wanted one. It's just sitting in her yard. She can't convince her husband to take it any where. Another is a member of this forum who house I drove by several times and then couldn't stand it anymore and just went up to the door. I've even been known to follow owners home.
What a vast amount of knowledge each has and all seem to be friendly and excited to show you their silver home.
The sad times are when you see one used as an auction office and it has a metal building attached to it. Or one just sitting out in the field somewhere.
I wish I had the resources to "adopt" all the "orphans" that I see.
Stay warm

lukin
a lady called in tonight and mentioned the card i left on her gate this afternoon...it was about 18 ft 2 side windows door and window....looked AS but now that i think more was likely Avion.... her story she paid 1800 and would look for 1200 i am poor....i offered my available 500-600 and she said come around tomorrow after 2:30 and go thru it....good chance then Avions are nice
she says everything inside is original and that there are 2 or 3 of sons boxes of books inside on couch...kitchen 3 burner stove bed everything that came with it.....i think i looked at one of these 2 or 3 months ago....that guy would have taken 1500...but when i wrote the check to close the deal...he backed off saying his wife would not let him sell....avions are nice...not AS but nice...
so i should know around 3 if it is anything i can get or afford....
if i had your money, .....i could change the world....
also, i have 5 guys that work for me full time...my standing offer is that if i close an AS deal that they showed me then 200.00 is for them....they are always telling me where to look....

Vision Changes
Ever since I started seriously looking at A/S it's like my eyesight has changed. Never used to see them, now they seem to be everywhere. A friend of mine in Akron sent me "Silver Palaces" which I made the mistake of taking to the lunch table. I'll get it back from my staff one of these days.
It's amazing how many different styles and clones - like the Avion and the Curtis Wright were made. We may all turn into silver twinkie spotters.
Keep those sightings coming.
