I just looked it up........

Feds get 39.6%, the state where we live would get about 9%. So we would actually take a check to bank for roughly half the advertised jackpot. Right now, that would be about a $400,000,000 payday (look at all those zeros!).

That's still a pile o'money.

Nice to dream, eh?

Jim

Now, if you take the annual annuity option, equal payout amounts over 29 years, you get full $1.3 billion, minus the taxes o'course.

Humm, decisions, decisions......

Oh, and BTW, I purchased the winning ticket this afternoon, so y'all quit worrying about winning.

Jim

No decision needed on my part. I's be very lucky indeed to live another 29 years, so I'd want all of my money in one lump sum.

In one lump sum it still would be hard to spend it all in one life! God bless the person who gets it....

Easy. Half would be spent on wine, women, and song, and the rest would be spent foolishly.

Look up Canada, we get all the money from a lottery, no tax taken off! But our biggest prize is only a measly $60,000,000. Who could live on that.

I would use the money to buy Thor Industries and shut down Airstream for good. This would thusly increase the value of my 310 turbo diesel motorhome and all your trailers. The only people that would be negatively affected by this bold and genius move, would be the Interstate owners as everyone else makes RV's on Mercedes chassis.......
However since the odds of winning (232.2 million-1) are less than if you never went to the Grand Canyon, but died there anyway's, and I don't have a ticket, the Interstate boys can breathe a sigh of relief.

Cheers, and good luck
Tony

1st of all I would pay all my depts. then I would get a lawyer. I would then finish my trailers redo and buy a new truck to pull it with. Then I would quit my job and go camping for the rest of my life. Maybe go on a few WBCCI caravans that are overseas. Visit my fellow Airstreamers. And see MT. Rushmore with my Trailer. But hey I live in the Midwest and I'm more Likely to be eaten by a shark then win the money! You all have a great out there!!!
Oh one more thing I would have an indoor place for Wally Baum Museum so that everyone will know who he was.

Well, the first thing I would do is hire a bodyguard and disappear because one person with all that money puts the idea of kidnapping/ransom/embezzlement into the minds of some.

Then I would be the world's happiest philanthropist - would give most of it away - thus negating the need for that bodyguard anymore.

Yup. Accept the winnings in a good disguise, hire lawyer, CPA and bodyguards first, then disappear from the view of all the folk that want to take/share your money.

No worries here about that--have never gambled.

Oh Dan, I'm thinking with that kind of money you could get the best Michelins available....and still afford something much nicer than Nebraska.

Double, then triple check the winning numbers against my numbers.
Set up a trust fund for college for the grandchildren
Include my very large family in the the winnings
Find twenty needy families in my area to help. Teachers in local schools would know which family to help.
They see the results of home situations better than most.
Give to my church
Give to our local High School, where many of our children and grand kids have graduated.
Go camping

Like Switzerland maybe. Think about it, the banking system is very friendly to outside cash. Scenery is beautiful and the folks there are just cotton-pickin' nice. Went climbing/hiking there back in the '70's. One of the most memorable weeks of my young life. Loved it.

You can see Mt Rushmore anytime. But after I win the Powerball all you'll see will be a pile of dust and my face right next to Teddy Roosevelt.

Buy Airstream, and change the management to one who actually went camping and used the product they produced. Hire a specialist in fixing dumb things and give him/her the authority to force changes, making Airstream truly a great trailer. No more single stage converter/chargers, plywood sub floors, and leaks. Best quality tires and appliances. Good curtains, like the old days. I might even hire myself for the job of chief of quality and quality ideas.

And give away the rest. I don't need it.

But, it won't happen. I never in my life have bought a lotto ticket and am not about to start.

Okay, I'll bite, why next to Teddy? Who you gonna replace? Abe or Tom?

Must be winter on the forums, we're avoiding talking about Airstreams and have wondered off into the ether.

I would create a huge sports complex for the school where our kids attended grade school, and the other schools in their league. Soccer complex, boys and girls BB and VB gyms, Lacrosse, BB, Softballl, etc.

And the concession stand would be free, so that no mom or dad would ever again have to remember to bring snacks for the game!
