What watch do you wear?
I have quite few, but boght this one yesterday because of all the features.
Suunto Core Multifunction Watch - Light Black at REI.com
- Altimeter, Barometer, Compass (ABC) wrist-top design delivers crucial data for gauging performance, direction and weather
- Barometric altimeter is accurate to 30,000 feet and displays current elevation and elevation gain/loss and records entire session for later analysis
- Unique start-from-zero function simplifies altimeter usage by eliminating need to enter a reference altitude
- Barometer function measures and records air pressure to help predict changing conditions; weather trend indicator shows history over last 3 - 6 hours
- Automatic Alti/Baro mode senses movement, or lack thereof, and seamlessly switches between altimeter and barometer functions
- Storm alarm feature activates when a rapid drop in air pressure is detected over a three-hour period; alarm sounds and flashes to indicate bad weather
- Digital compass monitors direction; set and follow a bearing using rotating bezel ring or point top of watch in direction of travel to lock in bearing
- Sunrise/sunset times ensure you never miss another beautiful dusk or dawn; set regional data and watch will inform you how much daylight remains
- Snorkelers will appreciate the accurate depth readings to 10m (30 ft.)
- Durable composite housing, aluminum bezel and solid elastomer strap are built to withstand rugged outdoor use
Anywho, just something to check out while driving, camping and sitting around. Has a storm alarm which reads the pressure changes. Just a toy but any comments would be great.
It's HUGE BTW,....

My wife and I both have Seiko watches. Hers is a standard self-winder, and mine is a Kinetic. It does a few things, but is not as complex (or large) as the one you now have.

I'd rather have an IPhone, it's even more exciting. And it talks to me too!

I'm retired, and can't even find my watch. My wife occasionally briefs me on such matters.

Once you get older, you'll have experienced the pleasure of having lost or destroyed a few expensive watches -- and thus turn to inexpensive Timex watches.

I had a Casio Altimeter Swiss-Army-Type watch that did everthing like your Suunto, Shane. I didn't last more than a couple years so I went back to semi-basics and now have an Accutron stainless steel watch that I use at work and an Immersion stainless steel diving watch for play.

Much to my husbands displeasure, I am an avid Timex Ironman fan.
It really takes a beating and I am not one to wear delicate jewelry that will get in my way.
Plain wedding band, seldom wear bracelets or necklaces and I rarely remove my practical white gold with diamond chip drop earrings.
My husband knows that a giant pair of diamond stud earrings would not even make me giddy.
If I can't exercise, garden or build a home while wearing it, it isn't much good to me.
I use a lot of the functions built into my watches.
As a home school mom, the timer has been a good friend.
I have timed many a run as well.
My current model is pink!

Now here is a thread for me. I work for Citizen watch Company and of course I wear a Citizen Eco Drive. Light (solar) powered and never needs a battery! When I was looking at a Bambi I wanted solar and found one with it! Solar and cell technology has come a long way! I also have sn iPhone but a watch is way better and looks better on your wrist. We even have atomic watches so your always on time. Thanks for the thread.

My all round watch is a MARATHON TSAR. The best watch made for rugged-ness. I talking one tough cookie.
SCUBAWATCH.ORG MARATHON TSAR NASA ISSUE
I just wanted somthing to play with while traveling. The Suunto will be an Airstream watch only. Hopefully I will wear it more than the Marathon.
For "special" occassions I wear others.

I have found that the more functions I get on a watch, the more likely I am to get it in a condition I can't get it out of without the manual.
Several years ago I went on a trip and took two watches, in case the battery died in one. The batteries both died within a day of each other.
From then on I have bought only solar powered watches.
The last watch I bought and wear nearly all the time is a Casio that is both solar powered and syncs with the atomic clock time broadcasts.
It has simple time zone changes and automatic daylight savings time.
Regards,
Ken

We're retired too, but I cant stand being without my watch, and so it's my DW who is always asking me, since she can't stand wearing one.

Bingo! Years ago, I bought a Timex that has a kind of web fabric band with velcro fastener that I find is quite comfortable, plus it has a button that when pushed lights up the dial for night use. I'm on my third band so it seems to like me.
Any of the metal ones make my wrist turn green.
So I gave up on them for fear of turning into some kind of an alien.

I'm on my 3rd Ironman. After a few years the faces gets scratched and the bands breaks. I never take them off except when I dress up in business clothes. Thankfully that is not often since I retired. A new watch wasn't much more expensive than a new band and new battery so I just replace them every few years. I guess you could update the old Timex tag line, "takes a licking and keeps on oscillating". I have several "Sunday" watches.
