What the...?

Craigslist ad says:

Quote:
This is an original "Bambi Bar" built by Airstream, Co. in Jackson Center, Ohio. These bars / reception desks have been fabricated for private & commercial use, built with the same high-quality construction Airstream delivers in their RV campers. The "Bambi Bar" in 2004 had a price tag of $4992 without the mini-fridge option, and according to Airstream Customer Service only about 24 have ever been built. This one in particular was purchased from a now-defunct Airstream dealer who had used it at a trade show, and then for a number of years as a reception desk for brochures. There are a few minor dings in the countertop and some cola stains on the carpet - I have lots of photos. There are built-in AC outlets and switches for the tail-lights (all working).

It's a great conversation piece... Are you an Airstream dealer? Austin Hot dog vendor? Vintage Airstream Enthusiast with a need for a Man Cave dry bar?? This is certainly a unique item, very rare to be seen on the market, and offered at a price significantly lower than new.
Cool pics though. Anybody know how to transfer them here?

I like it

If I had the $$ and the room to put it in... Then again bet it sure would get trashed from feet hitting the panels.

They have different versions in the waiting area at Jackson Center and the execs have smaller versions as desks, perhaps called Bambi Desks.

I guess this is like Dr Martens' shoes. Doc Martens used to take on new employees and train them. Their first few days output was recycled. Then their next few days output would be sold to prisons and donated to homeless charities. Then the next few days output would be sent to a store in Bedford, England that sold these "reject" Docs - they had a small hole punched in them.

Maybe this is the unwasted output of training newbies, or keeping people busy during lulls?

I remembered I had a photo of the JC waiting area. There are 2 desk like models—one in the foreground, another over on the left. To the right of the beautiful model, in the background, is one of the bar types, used by Don the Tour Guy, at the start of the factory tour.

I did spot the deliberate mistake, which is that it has orange rear marker lights

The ones in JC seem to have no courtesy lights, or none I can see. They have 2 different styles of taillights, both different from other photos. They have the license plate holders, but only the big one has a plate.
